8100 w/ Prisims and RCF card, 8200, & Spectra Sonics 610 for sale

Hi All-

I don't post here often so please let me know if I'm violating "protocol".

I have a client with an Optimod 8200 that he wants to sell. It was working fine when removed from service July last year, as a result of facility relocation.

I have another client with an Optimod 8100 with a Gentner card 5 (I believe it's an RCF-1 model) and a pair of Texar prisim's.

I also have two Spectra Sonics 610's here. One is working fine, but would probably like to be recapped. The other has either a meter issue, or a power supply issue- I don't have time to put it on the bench.... I would suggest sending both unit back to the factory to be refurbished. I'd love to sell them so I can get another Amber 3501a distortion analyzer for my workbench.

I believe the 8200 has been sold as well.

is the gentner rcf1 and the clark blue cobalt the same card or was the rcf1 an improved version.i remember the blue cobalt ran hot and most 8100 users left the face plate off and kept the door open.scary...your thoughts,please.
 
I'm not sure.... I don't have much experience with those cards, plus I don't have any documentation for them. I believe the cobalt blue card and the rcf card were different from each other. Both were designed by Glen Clark, then sold to Gentner. I've asked Glen if he has any documentation, but it all seems to be gone now.

If anyone has any documentation for the above mentioned cards- users manuals, schematics, setup instructions, etc. I would really appreciate a copy.

I do have an RCF-1 card of my own, but it doesn't sound right to me. The other cards in my 8100 may need to be modified or aligned differently for it to work properly..... I never ran my reference 8100 long enough with the rcf1 to see if it ran hot or not. I can ask my customer if his 8100 w/ rcf1 and prisim's ran hot.

Personally, I like the sound of a plain old 8000, modified by Bill of course. But, I'm a purist...

The cobalt blue card is totally different from the rcf1 card.
The cobalt blue card is much more aggressive,faster release times,and you usually use it with less gain reduction.
I believe the cobalt blue card uses fuzzy logic,i had both cards but much preferred the rcf1 card.
 
The schematic for the RCF-1 appears on page 69 of the Texar Prism manual in PDF and on page 75 in the Gentner Prism manual in PDF.

You can find them on the web but if you need them in a pinch I have them on my site along with other manuals for obsolete audio gear that campus broadcasters may utilize.

I keep getting a "direct link error" when I click on the prisim file. Happens in both IE and FF.
