9 kHz AM Frequency of the Week - 1521 kHz

Daytime - nothing.

Evenings - Sometimes a loud het or slop from 1520, a few times during the fall or winter months 1521 from Saudi Arabia (Arabic or some sort of chanting). I understand they have 2 million watts...

In VA, nothing days, at night, the Buffalo talk station with sometimes a het from 1521. I have heard the Saudi Arabia on 1521 on the NC coast recently, as I posted in the "Heard something on 1521 on NC coast on 9/10 evening " thread earlier this month. As I zoom in the view of the 1521 towers, I can get a good view of them.

Perth, Australia - the only thing I've positively ID'ed here is 2QN Classic Hits over in New South Wales (2kw, about 1,700 miles East of me). It's the only Aussie on the frequency. It's usually just mush underneath - there aren't a lot of stations of higher power in Asia on 1521. The only high power Chinese is way up near the Kazakh border in far NW China.

I've been surprised that I haven't heard 1521 Saudi Arabia here, but looking at that tower photo, it looks like I'm in their null, which could help explain it.

I've picked up Saudi, but only once or twice. I've had to put up with a lot of 'progressive talk' trying to bag them again, lol! Although a stronger signal than Radio Farda, they just don't seem to show up in my headphones, as often as Farda does.
