92.7 REV-FM, Wild 94.9, Movin 99.7 & 106.1 KMEL

With the Rhythmic and Top 40 music heavly present in the Bay Area. Which of these Top 40/Rhythmic do you prefered? Which of these Rhythmic/Top 40 you don't prefered?

I agree with Mr Moore,,,, I may have liked REV more if they hadnt killed the dance format for it. KYLD has always been cool,,, KMEL is the same as KYLD except its more Urban and less POP-Dance.... You forgot 89.3 and 102.5, they are both heard well in the south bay. 102.5 is KDON in the south, and KSFM in the North and east,, Occasionally KWIN 97.7 comes in out at the east bay,, i dont live there so I cant tell you if KWIN is always heard there or not, but I think they got an upgrade CP recently, so it may be even better now...

my favs in order:

movin 99.7, KDON, KMEL, wild 94.9, 92.7 rev.

WiLD 94.9 is the best IMO, the mixes are awesome @ Friday nights. Movin 99.7 is good too. I haven't really listened to KMEL as much, and I'm not a big fan of 92.7 Rev FM.

92.7 REV FM has a pretty good 5 PM mixshow, other than that, it seems like its a true Top 40 station, actually playing rock hits like Muse. Seems a little weird...I don't really like that, when I'm in the mood for Top 40, I expect hip hop and pop.

This is a programming philosophy thing. What do you do when some alt-rocker is actually IN the top 40? The proprietor of Rev insists that playing the full range of the top 40 will make it more inclusive and entice more people to listen. A senior person at Wild whom I know describes those as "stiffs" and weeds them out. He says they have Star and Channel for those.

If one is not going to eliminate those "negatives", one has to give people a stronger reason to keep listening. So far they haven't been staffed to do that but that may change soon.

You expect hip hop and pop because that's what the format has mostly been. Top 40 from its inception was always a mix of genres. I'm personally happy to see acts like Muse breaking up the predictability of CHR radio. "Rock" music can also be pop music.

I went to San Fransisco recently and liked Wild. Awesome city, I kept thinking how cool it would be to get a gig over there.

I find rhythmics that will play ONE alternative sounding song with the rest of their rhythmic pop and r&b hits very interesting. Our KZON in Phoenix recently started doing that. Well, they did have "don't trust me" in rotation for a while too, but it was the Kid Cudi version with rap. The new Orianthi song they added doesn't sound hip hop influenced at all. I understand Cascada, but still can't wrap my mind around the Orianthi hit, although I don't mind it. As far as I would think, Kings of Leon and Miley Cyrus (or even Taylor Swift, as some stations are playing alone with their rhythmic hits), I would assume that those artists would or should be added as well if Orianthi was added in. How did all those other artists score on both KMVA and KZZP not make it to KZON like Orianthi, when Orianthi only made it to KZZP so far? ..Or maybe Orianthi is much bigger than I'm thinking.

Anyway, those rhythmics that would play a bunch of stuff, then one thing out of the ordinary, always fascinated me. Reminds me of back when we had KPTY Arizona's Party Station which was mostly rhythmic hip hop & r&b hits, then in addition they had "Can't get you out of my mind" by Lil Suzy in rotation along with the rhythmic hip hop and urban pop hits. The Jocelyn Enriquez, SF Spanish Fly, Jonny Z, Angelina, Jossette, Corina, El Presidente and sometimes Rockell....etc. was only played in the mix... but that eventually somewhat changed a bit after a few months before the time Daft Punk, Kinsu, and M:G came out..
