92.9 FM classic rock pirate in Sayreville, NJ

In central NJ I'm hearing a strong signal on 92.9 FM playing classic rock music. The station ID's itself as "92.9 FM Sayreville, NJ" but never gives any call letters -- obviously a pirate. Yesterday they had a DJ live on the air inviting listeners to call in, and claiming he was giving away tickets to the PNC Bank Arts Center! Today so far I've only heard music and pre-recorded liners.

I've heard about this station before. Surprised he can get out far at all since up there in north jersey you got WPAT 93.1 and W224CW on 92.7 a translator for WPRB 103.3. He's gonna get the infamous NUOU letter soon I bet. It's a shame because I fully support hobbyists and pirates AS LONG AS they aren't interfering with any legit station, have decent audio, and don't air inappropriate curse-laden songs. But he is in a very crowded FM band area, so it's just not acceptable there. And way too risky.

From past experience, I can tell you that this is not the board to be expressing support of pirate radio, bootleg streaming, or anything else of that ilk, no matter how you try to qualify your statement.

I, too, have had past experiences here with that. I also do not care. I know my opinions are based on common sense. Come what may.

Hes doing a great job from over the water .Catching his signal on SDR very strong

No further discussion seen. Checked today and it just
seemed to be Open Carrier. But a post in another
group stated without explanation that 9/17/17 would
be it’s last day on air.

I have to take a listen the next time I head over that way... makes you think that if it's on at much lower power it was either sent a notice about running it illegally or it decided not to push its luck and dropped the power. Either way that's one thing the FCC should really be making a priority but we know how that goes... expense and man power. If you drive up the Parkway from union to points north it's a disgrace how the illegal broadcasts are running rampant...

Bad link....or the link is down....
I get "Access Denied" when I try to check in......

Well one has to wonder their wattage and considering how close to NYC they are, WPAT's HD sideband must kill their signal. W224CW also can cause some issues. Not even to mention they're (probably) a pirate. Relatively flat lands and a decent antenna height might let that signal fly for a bit, but that's only if they've actually set everything up right.
