93.1 WEZW Wildwood Crest is All Christmas 10/30/09

I happened to tune across the dial and instead of the usual staticy WTTH
simulcast, WEZW 93.1 is all Christmas, with a varied mix, new imaging, and loud azz
crystal clear audio. It says no commercials too. It sounded good in the 20 minutes or
so I had it on. That's enough Christmas music for the year for me though.

They sound fantastic... great selection.....wonder what happens after the 25th....

For anyone that's interested: WDOX is streaming online again! Apparently it's been back for several months, but I just found it now. It sounds great, with many of the classic station IDs still there ... all that's missing are those humorous commercials. Perhaps if there's enough support for it, WDOX will make another return to FM radio!

WEZW has a nice sound- We're running an all Christmas Format too at the Jersey Shore.

They're playing more of a variety than B101 which seems to have a more narrow playlist.

We're playing more of the Christian Christmas songs than all the stations but they're all doing a fine job.

I would strongly disagree with going commercial free however. There is nothing wrong with broadcasting commercials or underwriting spots. Indeed, without them no broadcaster would survive.

It's because of local businesses that we all survive. In my opinion, this is a great time of year to thank all our sponsors for keeping us on the air.

It should be noted that WEZW is STILL running the Christmas format ...
Anyone know what's going on down there ?

It's the weekend. I assume they'll flip tomorrow. We didn't flip until 8 pm tonight.

I heard that some other stations are waiting until staff comes in tomorrow to do the flip.

As of this morning, WEZW is now ... (big surprise) ... "Easy 93.1", playing "soft & easy favorites" ...

At least its somthing a little different instead of being a normal AC.....I wonder if they have anything in store for 102.3 or 105.5.....105.5 had a call letter change way back in December 2007 and a few months back WAYV took 102.3 off their website......Also since the flip to Kiss-FM, 105.5 has never been listed on their website (I don't know if they mention 105.5 on air since I'm out of range).

I would really like to see a AAA station (like 107.1 WXPK) down in the Atlantic City/Cape May market but I don't think any radio company will attempt to try the format......In time I think a AAA station would do ok.

The grey hairs of South Jersey should like this station. I like the fact they're using song tags ala B 101.

It will attack all of the other A/C's older end and is also an alternative to WIBG.

Sounds like the DUV in Florida and Magic in Albany.

Good luck with this.

GREAT MOVE!

I actually had contemplated going that route. The #1 station in Tampa is WDUV - Should get nice ratings but may have problem with younger listenership.

The B101 voice tags at the end of each song are good but I think the voice they chose is a little strong for the format. ..

Unless what they're playing over the air is different from the stream, they're playing a loop of about 5 songs right now. I've been listening for about 20 minutes, and the last 3 songs that have played were heard earlier in that time period. I agree that the song tagging or whatever you want to call it sounds very out of place with this format.

Edit: Now they're playing a song that wasn't heard previously in the last half hour. Obviously they have some bugs to work out...

Station reminds me of the old KISS 100 around 1980 or so. Philly had a 3 way A/C race then with Magic, the original Sunny, and Kiss.

Licensed to Media, there were some signal issues.

Wow. I just found out about this. Nice move. Seriously. This could do as well as WDUV in Tampa with Cape May's mature, affluent audience. This is one of the more unique moves in South Jersey radio in a long time.
