Ability to spell not required for this job.

"Adult AC" Adult Adult Contemporary?

I can understand missing a key when typing. That's not really a spelling error, IMO, in particular when it's an informal comment. But not checking before hitting 'Post'? Especially in an ad that is business-oriented? ::)

Yeah, I'll give them missing a letter in broadcasting. But misspelling the other words is pretty awful and reflects poorly on the station.

I'm not sure I understand the direction this forum has taken. Seems like a lot of negative comments for what appears to be a great opportunity for someone. That station wants to hire someone and the spelling in the ad is causing all this commotion? With the state of radio nowadays, and the unemployment rate for ex-announcers, it would seem like more would welcome this as good news. This board looks like a nice place for this type of announcement--at least that is what I thought it was when I signed up a short time ago. So far, though, it looks more like it's being used as a forum to put down fellow broadcasters. Is this really the purpose of this website?

Just checked back and saw your posts. You’re absolutely correct; we should have taken a third or fourth look at this before posting (got to love cut and paste). A few typos don’t change the fact that we are looking forward to adding a new member to our broadcast team. If you are, or know of someone that is, seriously looking for a great opportunity to be on the air in the Downeast and Bangor market, please let us know.

Just to set the record straight, we are very pleased with Joe’s morning show and we are not looking to get rid of anybody. We are just adding to our growing family.

Thanks to everyone for your support and for keeping us on our toes.

The owner of the station isn't a radio owner because he's a wuss. He's right to be called on his typos, and honestly, I respect the guy for having the stones to come back with his real name and kill the peanut gallery with kindness.

As for the job itself, I'm not sure what level of talent he thinks he'll get for what that job probably pays in 2013. Chuck, can I voicetrack it? Maybe I'll put something together.

Yes this is the very attitude an employer is looking for!

Hey Will,

What's with you, anyway? Do you not understand the purpose for these boards? If you haven't met the owner, I'm not sure how you feel you can be so judgmental. "A 'wuss', NOT a radio owner"?? Are you serious?? I'm sure he owns a radio....maybe you meant not a radio station owner, but that wouldn't make any sense either, because he owns a station. He made a few typos and apologized.....what else do you want? He, no doubt, invested a lot of money to bring quality radio to Eastern Maine and from what I have heard on the air, one of the best, if not THE best announcing staff anywhere in the area.

As MickeyD alluded to, he has also been able to put together a list of people not to hire, of which you are now at the top, it would appear.

Your sub-title--'Burlington Trash Talker' is quite telling. I'm not sure if you are from the Burlington, VT area and like to put broadcasters there down, or if you perhaps you got a bad jacket at the Burlington Coat Factory.

Perhaps you should keep your trash talking to your own area, and allow this board to be positive and helpful.

Well, I've posted in this very forum since 2001, so I'm not about to be lectured by somebody with nine posts about the "purpose for these boards."

If you haven't met the owner, I'm not sure how you feel you can be so judgmental. "A 'wuss', NOT a radio owner"??

You fail at reading comprehension. Go back and read the sentence in which I said "wuss." It makes the point that wussiness is not a characteristic of any radio station owner. It's not an easy business.

Are you serious??

Yes, and don't call me Shirley.

I'm sure he owns a radio....maybe you meant not a radio station owner, but that wouldn't make any sense either, because he owns a station.

Huh? English, please.

He made a few typos and apologized.....what else do you want?

Yeah, and I commended him for doing it with his real name. Again, reading comprehension.

He, no doubt, invested a lot of money to bring quality radio to Eastern Maine and from what I have heard on the air, one of the best, if not THE best announcing staff anywhere in the area.

If you say so. I haven't heard.

As MickeyD alluded to, he has also been able to put together a list of people not to hire, of which you are now at the top, it would appear.

I live in Boston and make $40,000 a year. His job pays less than that and isn't in Boston. Do you seriously think I would relocate for that job?

Your sub-title--'Burlington Trash Talker' is quite telling. I'm not sure if you are from the Burlington, VT area and like to put broadcasters there down, or if you perhaps you got a bad jacket at the Burlington Coat Factory.

Born and raised.

Perhaps you should keep your trash talking to your own area, and allow this board to be positive and helpful.

If you're a moderator, why doesn't it say that under your username?

Indeed, seems a little hinky to me, too. Kudos to the Wave boss for being able to take criticism constructively, by the way, instead of getting his boxers in a bunch. That's how grown-ups do it.

I'll second this motion. Will, as usual hits the nail on the head. I also appreciate the owner of the station posting on here and owning up to his mistakes. As for "newkid" maybe Joe HAS a NEW name THAT he's USING to POST on HERE.

Sorry guys, I'm not Joe. I work at a powerful station East of Albany, N.Y. and no, I'm not Ken, Mike, Bill or Sally. I enjoy listening to lots of stations on the Internet, especially around New York and New England, and am simply disappointed to see this forum being used to put down fellow broadcasters. I recently joined this board thinking that it was a great way to exchange ideas, thoughts and general helpful information about your area. Apparently not.
