94.7 the Block- Shut up about politics and play the Throwback Jams

I'm listening to 94.7 the Block on the Tune-in app in the breakroom at work and the male DJv went off on about why Ms. Harris (my words not his) can not win the election. I don't listen to a hip-hop station to hear about politics
This is why sometimes I just find it better to listen to streaming.

It's not like there are a ton of African American talk stations, so I suppose the black oriented music stations are the place where that sort of thing will get discussed, if it's on radio..... KBLA is the only non-BIN, black talk station I can think of off the top of my head (although BIN isn't necessarily 'talk', it's news and opinions). I know Al Sharpton has a talk show that get played an a certain number of black formatted stations (including a local station, KYIZ 1620). Not sure how widespread his show is, though. His audience probably skews older, too.

WVOX in Chicago and WOL in DC are two legendary black-owned AM talk stations.

Of course at one time WLIB was part of that group.
I don't mean to go off topic, but do any of these black-owned AM talk stations get decent ratings? Because, generally, when KBLA is discussed, it seems that the consensus that it at least doesn't get hardly any ratings, and no one seems to know if they're making money at all. I realize that there are probably more African Americans in Chicago and DC than LA, but LA still has a lot of African Americans living there,

No, but that's not the point. Steve Harvey and Charlamagne Tha God are two of the top-rated personalities on the radio today. Both are black, both are on top-rated FM music stations, and both discuss politics on their shows.

Black AM stations suffer from a lot of the same problems all AM stations have, which is older demos and small audiences. Thankfully there's enough of an audience that they can exist for the audiences who want them.

Heaven forbid a radio host expresses an opinion on the biggest news story in the country right now.
Back in the day, it was common to hear a daily or weekly editorial from the GM or news director at even small town stations.

Adding to the list of black talk stations: WAOK 1380 AM Atlanta
