Ive mentioned many times thats what great with streaming.
Even siriusxm has all those xtra channels with no djs.
I want music on a music station if i want talk ill put on siriusxm nfl radio.

Once again, we're very specific about urban-formatted stations.
A very good Urban station with no DJ's (therefore no political discussion) is Boston's WERS HD2

Many of the best urban stations out there do a much deeper, better job of connecting to their communities with more than just music. I am proud to be the chief engineer for one of those, WDKX in Rochester.
Music is a part of what we do there, of course, but there's constant interaction and communication with the Black community locally, and of course that includes talking about politics, both on and off the air.
There's a gap right now in Boston when it comes to stations that do more than just music aimed at the Black community. WERS+ doesn't fill that gap.
It was funny this morning on 80s on 8 the recorded voiceover guy comes on & said mark goodman was out today.
First thing i thought was good hope hes on a vaca -- less talk more music.

I would have thought that given the political climate in the US at the moment, motivating the audience to participate in the vote is a high priority. I imagine that on any given day, the average person really doesn't care about politics. This is probably even more important that stations like the Block become more proactive in encouraging people to vote, given that it isn't compulsary to vote.
Another aspect to think about is, music radio is on the way out, slowly. So having relatable content is king these days. The audience (I'm guessing) are Gen Xer's, so they are probably looking for something more than just music.

😂😂 exactly. He’s probably talking about Cipha Sounds. He has a segment where he only speaks for 2 mins where he talks about news and entertainment and front page news then he plays music. He’s acting like it’s Newstalk radio where they have a political settlement

No i dont cause like i said when goodman was out it was great or if the dj comes on i just flip to one of my other 17 presets.
Anyone else here remember Lee Marshall (aka "King News") on KDAY-1580 in Los Angeles? He used to do a news editorial, about some issue in the community (usually gang violence) every morning.
