Please make note that the station now known as WHOM has had several call-letter changes in the 50+ years of the station's existence. It was originally WMTW-FM, co-located with then-sister station WMTW-TV (Channel eight) at the Ricker Inn in Poland Spring, ME. When the FM and TV stations went their separate ways in the early 1970's, the FM first became WWMT, then WMTQ (to showcase the station's Quad/4-channel Stereo capabilities) and became WHOM in 1976.

It was one of the early adopters to FM Stereo back in the 60's. For the most part, it was known as "The Mt. Washington Station" with studios in Poland Spring, Maine. Many of the Channel 8 announcers did double-duty with WMTW-FM. Though WMTW-FM had (and still has) the largest coverage area in North America, it still sounded kind of a little local radio station with a big voice. Technically, it always had a nice sound since as long as I can remember (1965). You might want to get in touch with some of the alumni of WMTW-FM/WWMT/WMTQ and WHOM. And you might want to contact some the people who were at Channel 8 when the FM and TV shared space. Betcha they may have some aircheck material. Good luck.

Could You Please Tell Me Which People To Ask For So That I Can Know Where To Look? And could you give me the websites as well? Thanks!
