95.5 KJKB Scotland Wichita Falls Back On The Air

95.5 KJKB is now operating at their new construction permit location in Scotland Tx. They are now using a country format, they came on the air back in early January using a Techno/Dance style format but went off the air a couple of weeks after that and now just returned today. I am not sure if this is the permanent format or if this is just a test again.

One Says "NINETY FIVE POINT FIVE KJKB SCOTLAND WICHITA FALLS". And another that says "You are listening to KJKB Scotland WICHITA FALLS"

Might not be their permanent format, as they don't have a name - just the call letters. LOL if only I had a stream...

I know, I've visited the area many times, have family in Jacksboro in fact. I was wondering what happened when I went up there for Christmas and they were down.

They did come on the air around Christmas... December 26th to be exact at like 11 PM. Played about 4-5 Christmas songs and then went back off the air.

And you tuned in the station at that exact time and found it? Nice work. :)

Or were you scanning the dial?

As for their looped playlist it does seem like they're still testing, yep.

For what it's worth, when KZWV 101.9 Eldon, MO signed on the air, I heard it test several times. I even heard the dry run of the real AC format a few days before it signed on, though it mostly stunted for an hour or so at a time running some form of country.

When you work in radio in or near a certain market, you generally have a pretty good idea when things are about to happen. In the case of KZWV, the PD was a former co-worker of mine who was hired away after being passed over for better jobs within the cluster where both of us worked. On top of that, I was hired away by another competitor just a few miles away from KZWV's studio. Someone went by it everyday. Even with stations like KJKB 95.5 that don't have a lot of people working there, you have clients who lease or sell them the real estate and the like. So, you know when something's about to happen.

I was scanning the dial and when I landed on 95.5 i heard no dead air but silence on the channel so I left it on there then about five minutes later or so they started playing the songs. The one song I know sure was "12 Redneck Days Of Christmas".

Am around the area and tuned in. There seems to be all new country music on KJKB now, only imaging I've heard is the call letters every few songs. I like it.
For some reason it reminds me of KXXN's Cat Country days, locally owned new country with no commercials. The playlist doesn't even seem that tight now, but since I never heard it before I'll let you who have tell me if it has expanded or not.

Maybe this might last?

They finally added songs in the last couple of days. They were playing the same playlist in the same order for about two weeks time.

It was getting so redundant that you could start guessing the next song that was gonna play!
