95.7 Move to Sharonville/Cincinnati from Piqua/Dayton?

Anyone have any update/status for the FCC application of WHIO-FM 95.7 (Cox) to move the city of license from Piqua to Sharonville?
The application was made in mid-January of this year ('07) -seems like a long time to approve/deny the move.

Great question on 95.7...also...
Anyone have an update on 101.7 moving to 101.5 as well? Is this still happening even though Radio One sold to Main Line? ???

Neither application has been acted on by the FCC yet.

Thanks for the update - I also checked the status from the FCC Website.
Just wondering if anyone with close contact with Cox in Dayton had any scoop and/or details of the "why" and "when" of the 95.7 deal.
Last I heard it was being brokered with input from First Broadcasting in Dalles (97.7 Max FM).
Also, seems taking longer than usual to act on these applications - any reason other than the new, relaxed rules for changing city of license?

Seems as though the move of 106.9, marion to 106.7, Dublin has been in the works for at least two years if not longer. I don't expect these will happen anytime real soon.

I've noticed that WCIN is owned by "Robert I. Cox, successor trustee", according to radio-locator.com. Is this a Cox of the Cox Broadcasting family? Could this (WCIN and 95.7 pending move) be an attempt for Cox to enter Cincinnati, under the radar?

The people at WCIN say the station is not for sale. How can a "successor trustee" own a station?

I have no idea who "Robert Cox" is. He is not part of the Cox Enterprises organization as far as I know. And, believe me, my personal opinion is I'd doubt Cox Radio would have any interest whatsoever in owning WCIN.

As far as the Sharonville thing goes...you guys know exactly what we know. Nothing. And, given the present speed of the FCC, it could be years if and before anything happens. So, stop holding your collective breaths.
Blue is just not your color.

I noticed today that 3 separate FM "bays" have been placed on the top of the tower planned for the 95.7 move from Piqua/Dayton to Sharonville/Cincinnati.

Trust me, I live less than 1 mile from this and see it everyday - even to the point of being obsessive regarding the planned move.

Either I (we) missed something regarding the Cox application (FCC website still says "application") or it's for another FM station.

Anyone have anything on this?

NOTE: No, it's not a communication antenna and/or cell phone tower, etc. It's definitely FM bays. Hmmmm....

Flying-Dutchman:

All of the links you sent regarding LP's on 95.7 for Norwood/Cincinnati show tower/transmitter locations in different parts of Hamilton County other than Sharonville. Nothing even close to the location in the link below from the WHIO-FM FCC Website.

http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/FMTV-service-area?x=FM1168845.html

Still does not solve the mystery of why the new FM bays are were installed TODAY on the tower where the Cox "move-in" application is supposed to be.
?????

Maybe Cox did get pre-approval for the move-in? SOME has to have some scoop on this!

If the antenna was installed with feed line connected, that's pre-construction and strictly prohibited by the FCC...unless they do have a granted CP. Can't imagine Cox would do this if they weren't on solid legal ground.

FM bays installed today on that tower for some purpose -TBD?
Not sure if I can attach jpg's of them here, but will take a few digital pics and try to post soon.
If anyone has updated information - or speculation - please share.
Thanks guys!

I didn't think there was any rule against constructing a facility prior to the CP being issued, except that it would be bad business practice since you would be funding a project at risk on speculation that the CP would be issued sometime down the road.

CC did it up here in columbus when they moved WMRN onto the tower in Westerville, (now WRXS Dublin ) they had the bays on the Tower more than 6 months before they CP was granted, it too kept getting held up with appeals to the FCC
