95.7 The Jet --- Seattle's Variety from the 70's 80's and More...

Wonder where our usual corporate radio apologists are?.....Oh yeah, they're French kissing their mirrors....

No, we're too busy working in the industry where the "bees" dream of working. That's radio by the way.

What in The Wide World of Sports are you imagining? So if one is of the opinion that cookie cutter corporate radio programming stinks means they wish they were employed in the industry? Give me a freakin' break. Why would anyone want be a masochist working in such a stable industry?

Doesn't sound like calls are going to be an issue.
In any case...if you assign the call letters for K-"J"et-"R"adio .... what would you choose?

So...how are going to feel when your job is replaced by a computer? Don't think it will happen? If CC, Entercom, See B.S., Hubbard and Sinclair can find a way they will do it! You're not 'fire proof' (no one is...so you might as well deflate your ego before corporate does).

My 2 cents:HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM enough said. Won't last long!! Before you know it they will add 90's and then 2000's and then it will be called "The Best Variety of the 70's, 80's 90's and 2000's" CHEAP CHANNEL tried this here in West Palm Beach with KOOL 105.5 AND FAILED MISARABLY.

MY QUESTION IS: are they applying for new CALLS or keeping the same.

T.J.

Oh please oh please oh please to whoever schedules the music, play Kokomo just once during the daytime.

Say what you will about the station, but that launch piece is damn impressive.

Actually KOOL 105.5 does well in key demos in WPB. I suggest Public radio. They play a wide variety of obscure music. There are also many on line choices.

There is only one positive to this entire situation surrounding 95.7; CC changes/dumps/adapts/tweaks their formats all of the time. In the past 5 years I can name many tweaks on the programming on 95.7, from "oldies" to "classic hits" to "classic rock" and all of the other boring stuff they play. Really now, how long could it last?

And some of those "bees" that you speak of spend all of their time working at a station to learn all that they can, and get into the business. I know that you have absolutely no respect for anything that I am doing in radio, and you would probably love nothing more than to see me fail rather than make it in this business, but mark my words, I am not quitting until I achieve my goal.

You really don't need to sugarcoat your insults through ambiguity. I actually think its more insulting than to just come out and say exactly what you think.

Respectfully, if someone on an internet discussion board is going to get your goat, you may not have what it takes for the radio business.

If you want to get into the radio business, then go for it. Seriously, do it. However, if you're going to let the regular theme on this board guide your principles and how you feel about radio in general, then quit while you're ahead (no snark, an honest opinion). The lingo and the mindset inside a radio station is a complete 180 from what you read here. Sure, there is a disdain for the Clear Channel folks, but even those people have objective thinking.

Thank you for the honest reply. Truthfully, I actually do have a very thick skin to work in the business of radio; I did not mean for it to come across that way.

I heard a rumor that Jay Kelly was moonlighting -- now its very evident!

Just checked "The Jet's" so called playlist. Less than 700 songs. That's about "95.7 KJR" size. And out of those 700 songs, about 300 of them are played regularly. What a great, short, tire-you-out playlist!

Well that puts a damper on their "expanded playlist" promise.

Have to come down on the side of aqh Ford. This is a tough biz, if you really want to get yourself into it, head out to Green River CC and KGRG or any other school that offers a radio program. Do not expect to be playing any music you want. To be on the radio, you have to be a good actor and may not like what you have to play or how often you have to play it. Just how it is. Must tell you I've enjoyed almost every moment and wish you luck!

Has any station ever changed its format more often with less actual change in songs played than 95.7 FM? Ironically, the End has changed its musical stylings (compare 2002 to 2006 or today) while still claiming it's all "alternative".

I tune in occasionally with the hope that I'll hear something new or interesting. I've heard Carry On Wayward Son three times.

DrJerry, KJR's playlist has 666 songs. That's not really variety. Move on and try internet radio...
