I doubt it. Brooklyn has 2 pirates on the same 96.7 frequency. They will just add more height or power.

Oh yeah, real amazing. It was the same cookie-cutter "Good times, Great Oldies" clone heard on mediocre oldies stations across the country. I thought Long Island had something like that already with B103 ;)

B-103 has actually gotten considerably better. It doesn't seem to be as repetitive as it once was. I actually am suprised at some of the stuff they play. I'd even go as far as saying they have expanded the playlist a bit. Maybe its because of the return of CBS-FM. Maybe its Mark Simone's Saturday WABC show. Perhaps they heard WLNG and got scared. Maybe they felt threatened by those two High School stations that play a wide mix of oldies. Or maybe just maybe the person in charge of LIRG is letting the programming people do their job. I would say that B-103 has come a long way, and hopefully it seems that the station is starting to get some of the respect and resources that it deserves from its cluster managers.

Back on the topic of 96.7, back in the mid 90's Kool 96.7 really was very good. It was the later years that it go too narrowly focused. And as for the current format, I like the music. They do a nice job of mixing newer ACish stuff with the older ACish stuff. I also think that they will likely keep the current format if they move the transmitter. I really can't think of any reason why they would change it.

The 96.7 pirates probably will change their frequency, and maybe even Streetz 96.5 will be forced to move.

The playlist size of the old Kool 96.7 wasn't the nail in the coffin for their oldies format. The audience was getting older and they thought a younger listenership would do them good. That apparently didn't materialize. You could argue that management saw the writing on the wall with the demise of oldies stations like CBS-FM. On the other hand, a move to an updated classic hits may have been a more natural and successful transition.

It does seem strange that a city of 100,000 people in the middle of one of the wealthiest areas of the country won't have one commercially licensed FM. 96.7 in Stamford has been around a long time.

Wonder if Cox has plans to simulcast BLI on the 96.7 signal once it moves across the sound.
