97.1/The River gives Steve Craig a full time job (finally!)

Station sounds fantastic. Like that it's largely focused (from what I've seen on the playlist) on alternative pre-grunge mixed with newer stuff. I went to college in Washington, DC, during the heyday of WHFS in the late '80s and a lot of what this station seems to play is that true classic alternative (Elvis Costello, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Smiths, Bad Religion, R.E.M., etc.).

While I used to like grunge to an extent, I am sick of it and hate that so many people relate grunge as the beginning of alternative. It may have grown then, but it wasn't the start of it. Also think grunge ruined the perception of alternative as a harder rock genre (personally I think grunge belongs squarely in what became Active Rock).

Ashame the new station is relegated to HD radio. I'm not in Atlanta, but sure it would be welcome even on a translator.
