It will make me wonder what will become of 105.5 as it will lose it's core audience.

unless 98.1 gives them a reason to leave...the 105.5 core audience won't go anywhere for long

I've talked to several people who listen to 105.5 and they said they were tired of the repetitive nature of their play list. So there is an opening. The problem is no one i talked to even new Highway 98.1 existed.
Then that is actually a good thing for 105.5. That is what listeners tend to say when a music station is playing the hits frequently enough for them to be recognizable. We had the same complaint at Island 106 in '99. Obviously a CHR will have a tighter rotation than a Country station. But our Hots were rotating 90 times a week and we were #1 (12+) and (25-54). Main complaint: "you play the same songs over and over"...and they couldn't get enough of it...because they were the right same songs.

And congrats to a friend of mine for being on their station! I'd mention her name, but I'm not sure if she's using her real name or an "on-air" name. All I know is that she's excited to be there, and I'm happy for her.
