I figured I would look and see Smooth Jazz V-98.7 coverage area last Spring when I heard about them going to CHR/Top 40 in the future.
I was wondering so much about 98.7 FM signal here in metro Detroit because I have been thinking about moving way out into the new home subdivisions west of Detroit toward Ann Arbor, MI after I get a radio degree from Specs Howard School of broadcast arts, and I was wondering how well I would be able to pick up 98.7 in the outer suburbs of Detroit.
CHR stations have to have a good signal and coverage area in a big metropolis like Detroit, MI and Los Angeles, CA.

WKQI, known as "Channel 9-5-5," is a rhythmic-leaning Top 40 (CHR) radio station in Detroit, Michigan, owned by Clear Channel Communications. WKQI transmits its signal with an effective radiated power of 100,000 watts from an antenna 430 feet in height located at the intersection of Greenfield Road and 10 mile Rd. in suburban Oak Park in Oakland County. It can be heard as far away west as Lansing, Michigan, as far south as Cridersville, Ohio, & as far east as Sandusky, Ohio and London, Ontario. In clear conditions, signals can also be picked up at times in areas northeast of Cleveland, such as Eastlake, Mentor, & Ashtabula. During these times, WKQI gets interfered with Cleveland radio station, WFHM, which is the reason why WKQI can not be heard in Cleveland.
Channel 955 is as powerful as 96 WHNN in Bay City, Michigan at 96.1 FM with a 100,000 watt signal. 98.7 AMP Radio only has a 50,000 watt signal.
Channel 955 got bigger coverage and a stronger signal than 98.7 AMP Radio.
CBS should have put AMP Radio on 104.3 FM which has an effevtive radiated power of 190,000 watts, thats more powerful than 96 WHNN at 96.1 MHz.
If AMP Radio was on 104.3 its signal would be stronger than Channel 955.
