99.1 KGGI Riverside Plaaying "Stop & Stare" by One Republic, Coldplay On KYLD!

It seems that KGGI, like many Rhythmic, is playing Katy Perry's "I Kissed A Girl". Whats interesting though is that they're also playing several times a day "Stop & Stare" by One Republic.
Whats even more interesting is that yesterday in the 5 PM hour Wild 94.9 San Francisco played "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay. Wild 94.9 is also playing more Dance tracks like September's "Cry For You" and Lady Gaga's "Just Dance".

This doesen't surprise me. KGGI and KYLD have been known to throw in non-Rhythmic tracks, especially since they are in radio markets that don't have a Top 40/CHR.

That....and I have also noticed that KIIS has recently added the new Coldplay. Although KGGI and KYLD officially report as rhythmic, they tend to follow the lead of KIIS on many songs.

The LADY Gaga with Colby O donis is gonna be a smash.. It may take a little time, and easy it in there, but it couldbe real big.

Mainstream CHR is really heating up right now. There are a lot of good middle ground, pop records and rock tracks out right now. Also, many mainstream CHR's really exploded in the latest ratings and the format had some of the best books in a long time. At the same time, rhythmics that focus on hip hop seem a bit flat, and many seem to be more open to dance and pop records again (something we haven't really seen since the early to mid 90s).

So I think we may see more stations move back towards the center with a more mainstream CHR format if the product stays as good as we have right now. And also, as I said, I think we can expect some of the rhythmic CHR's to differentiate themselves a bit from the urbans by adding dance and rhythmic pop back into the mix alongside the hip hop.

98.5 KLUC Las Vegas recently added Jonas Brothers "Burnin Up" to its playlist, and its giving it a good amount of airplay. It also just added Metro Station's "Shake It" to rotation.
