99.7/The Fox Gives Away Kid Rock Tickets, But Doesn't Play Him!

Indescribable!

Because Kid Rock is not in their "Core Audience?"

Evidentally, they must know their listeners must listen to other stations who program Kid Rock.

First, it's embarrassing that Charlotte, the largest city between DC & Atlanta, doesn't have an Active Rocker that programs Kid Rock (even though Alternative 106.5/The End might play one of his songs once in awhile) & secondly, doesn't get the "better" shows like Kid Rock.

The Greensboro Coliseum & the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville get the "better" shows - &, they have better Radio markets, which both support Active Rockers (93.3/The Planet & 100.3/The Buzz) which both program Kid Rock, so that's why he's playing both cities!

Kid Rock? Isn't he a "country" artist? I see him on all the country award shows every year!

(And that is a mystery to me!)

Yes, but for his big country "song", he sampled not one, but TWO classic rock staples ("Sweet Home Alabama" and "Werewolves Of London"). And that garbage actually became the CMT "song of the year". Makes you wonder how far CMT's logic in music has come - airings of Pauly Shore movies aside...

And when Kid Rock won that CMT award for that "song," did he once thank Lynyrd Skynyrd or Warren Zevon?

By the way... Q104.3, the classic rock station in New York City, and is also owned by Clear Channel, like 99.7 The Fox, has also given away Kid Rock tickets in the past, even though they do not play him. Heck, they've once had Kid Rock on their morning show for an interview.

I think most programmers know that their listeners listen to other stations. That's kind of a given. I can see The Fox giving out tickets to his concerts, even if they don't play him. His concert schedule seemed to enthrall some people on Facebook and in Greensboro.

I'd just as soon The Fox keep it that way. I mean, I wouldn't want to hear a Kid Rock song OR go to a Kid Rock concert, but I'm sure there are plenty of people out in the world who would be excited by that. And they've probably heard Kid Rock too, even if they didn't hear it on The Fox. If The Fox thinks it will excite their fans, hope it works out. They don't have to play every song and every artist people like, otherwise sometimes they might have to throw in a Dean Martin or a Taylor Swift tune "just because our listeners like them." But it would be pretty hard to figure out when to shoehorn that into The Fox playlist "just right."

But that song won Song of the Year?
Dang. I guess that's why I STILL hear it scanning by country stations on the radio every week?

106.5/The End might play a harder Kid Rock tune (like American Bad Ass) but 107.9/The Link would probably only play "All Summer Long" or "Picture".

Active Rockers 93.3/The Planet & 100.3/The Buzz, in Greenville & Greensboro respectfully, keep the harder Kid Rock tunes in rotation.

Fox listeners might have Kid Rock on their iPods. This is CC's way of trying to woo the iPod owner back to radio...

I'm sure plenty of people were introduced to him during his classic (and I put that very, very lightly, btw) performance during the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show... you know, the one with Janet Jackson's little malfunction?
