a couple of morning radio observations

Morning radio in Tampa Bay is still very lame  Just happen to be flipping channels (due to weak content) this morning on my way to work. Tuned into Bubba for the first time since his return to fm radio. Did anyone else happen to catch the "F" bomb released on his show this morning? It wasnt Bubba but either Brent or Spice Boy (couldnt tell which as they both sound the same) but props to Bubba for catching it and grasping hold of the conversation to direct attention away from it.

Also noticed Dave the Dwarf was on Bubbas show. Did he defect away from The MJ show?

All in all, with the weakness of Tampa Bay morning radio, Bubba still has them all beat and that aint saying much about this town.

It seems most owners won't pay for talent. Remember Olivia Fox? Skip Mahaffey? Both gone from this market--------sorry-103.5 is a Gulfport station.

OSW - Your logic doesn't make sense. Sure the city of license for FUS is Gulfport. But they put a city grade signal over the entire market.
How does that make them Gulfport only and not a market player? So, if they cover the entire metro (very well), why would you consider Skip "out of the market"?

Just kidding. Never-the-less, WQYK remains the main player. As far as consistency goes, Q-105 and Magic seem to have achieved some of that. Orlando is great too if you are under 18. MJ is over-the-hill in my opinion and needs to go back to Virginia Beach. Who has an innovative morning show? I thought Olivia Fox might have been just that-------but not to be. But then Ryan Seacrest is big in LA-------

It's all just different strokes for different folks.
Even though I was just let go from CC Tampa, I love all radio here.
I'm starting to listen more to COX cluster lately.

I was listening to US 103-5 this morning - hadn't listened in awhile. Around 9 o'clock I began to notice there were no more dj's... just music and liners. I went to their website and it says 8:30 - 10:00 "commercial free". Do you think it's a good strategy to send the dj's home and just play music and liners? Do most people not want to hear anything other than music in the morning? Personally I'm not crazy about it. I like a little personality.
