A day in the life of a lamptimer

Paging Dr Akbar.......

VP/Market Manager - AZ Hubbard Radio, LLC seeks a strong leader to oversee and direct its newly acquired radio operations in Phoenix, Arizona.

Sorry, no can do...well beyond my level of incompetency! Believe me, Nurse Jeff and I've risen as far as we can here at the Buckeye Media Hut!

I remain camped out in the canal of love near the 14~Forty tower until I'm granted a face-to-face with Mother Hubbard. (BTW, so far I've declined alleged human interest interviews with channels 3 and 15 and an irritating guy from New Times.)

Lately I've noticed a '76 Gremlin with haboob-like exhaust weaving through the area at odd hours. Putting two and two together, I do think our good Dr. Akbar is downplaying his interest in the gig! http://bit.ly/13GHuiV

Dunno about working for Mother Hubbard...kinda like being my own boss and harassing Nurse Jeff whenever I want to! But hey, as the late Don Cornelius said it so well...just comes down to the number of old white guys with beards on green paper (bell bottoms are okay, but please no twerking on the line): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAlwoAflWrM

Those goldminers are becoming a little brazen with time running out on the sale of Lumberyard 14~Forty. Were they sending a not so subtle message to Mother Hubbard when the Nurse and I heard this shorty after power change on Wednesday night? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghcsrblhn7A hmmmmm....bad case of the gettin' uppitys goin' on canal side.

Here's one recorded at Audio Recorders in Phoenix that may or may not be about the funky club scene on Broadway Rd, depending upon who you talk to. Before Wilson Pickett made it a hit, Dyke & The Blazers was down and gritty in our fair city... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3C5Kl58eMTA

Did Dyke & The Blazers do this one, or did the Wicked Pickett beat him to it? In spite of the absurdity of recording this song, it doesn't sound half bad! Wonder if the goldminers would give this hunk of funk a spin on their expanded night-time (52 watts) playlist?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrZluYnMJUY

The day is coming soon when Mother Hubbard will finally come face-to-face with the Goldminers and the KAZG facility. What if she’s been getting all her information about Lumberyard 14~Forty from legend and lore in this run-on thread? Once Ma Hubbard sees for herself that Arizona’s Goldmine, crown cubic zirconia of her new Phoenix cluster, is powered by a sputtering, malware-plagued Dell laptop running Windows Vista, loaded with a shareware automation system…and the ~200 wornout oldies are stored on a fragile first generation Microsoft Zune in the same closet…and the storied lamptimer is collecting desert dust in a forgotten corner behind the now-less-than-brand-new Nautel…will she empathize with Miss Peggy Lee’s almost top ten hit from 1969? http://bit.ly/1erOS8E

A Dell laptop running Vista? The Nurse and I thought the Goldmine was run off a Tandy TRS~80. YIKES! No wonder the price tag for the Gumpdusky stations is so high! And as far as the Peggy Lee song goes, please keep us away from sharp objects the next time you spring that downer of a ditty on us. It's almost as painful as this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZiEY3O-FWk ....almost.

So it has come to this.

I hate to play the ultimate morbid card, but this thread must die sometime. Is this that time?

...something tells me it's still not the end of "A Day In The Life Of A Lamptimer."

Not even close.

I am proud to have been a contributor, but now I must spin the chamber and (YIKES!) pull the trigger.

Hey! I'm still here! At the last moment, the Old Gringo reached out to me and said,

"Kid, you have SO many posts left to catch up to me!"

That's my inspiration to keep keepin' on.....deal!

Glad to hear the Old Gringo pulled you back from the ledge...however, falling from a 1 story building is generally survivable! I may be wrong, but since R-D went with this newfangled system of posting in the radio litter box, the Old Gringo has been absent from Phoenix participation. Oops...Nurse Jeff just reminded me not to jinx things, so please retract the previous sentence.

Any truth to the rumor that the former Paddock Pools warehouse will be leveled so a drive-in theater can be built there? It's been a while since we snuck some Media Hut students in the trunk of the Gremlin to see a movie. hmmmm...wonder if those 52 watts from the Tower of Pow-Pow-Power will screw up the high quality sound that comes through that metal speaker which hangs on the driver's side window?

What a treat! Saturday night's power change came during the intro to The Weight, depriving the Nurse and me a whole two seconds of that wretched song. Not quite sure why the Nautel has to dump the carrier for two seconds while going from 5kw to .052kw. There's no phasor for a pattern change, so wassup with that momentary dump? (okay..we've opened the door, so take your best shot!)
