WSB Radio follows up with a strong 8.1 rating.
Kiss FM gets a 6.6.
Half-a-share behind is Majic, with a 6.1.
Hot, another Radio1 creation, gets a 5.6.
One 1% behind is the only non-kill-me-now station in Atlanta, Star 94.
Praise the lo' and Believe in the 80s, 90s, and NOW get a 4.8 and a 4.7.
Fish in the Sea has plopped on down to a 4.3.
Kicks and The Chattahoochee follow up with a 3.6 and a 3.4.
The Bull with da Horns and Let's get WiLD! gets a 3.1
WABE and Project, maybe the oddest couple on here, tie at 2.9.
The Pattern and Yay! for 'YAY gets a 2.2.
WNGC, who IS NOT going oldies, gets a 1.5
W-G-S-T gets a 1.3, while Quixie gets a 1.0 share.

Arbitron did not release Q100 or WNNX. Not on any ratings site I checked. Boo-Hoo.

Looks like more of the same...nothing new to ponder except this.

I personally have found myself listening to Dave more. I like their re-emphasis on late 70s/80s alt, especially on the weekends. I wonder how they are doing lately across dayparts and weekday vs. weekends.

In case you didn't notice, Arbitron starting in March is no longer releasing 6+ info for non-subscribing stations. That means the following are not included in any numbers referenced above: Cumulus stations Q100, Rock 100.5, Journey 97.9, 99X, 680/The Fan, J93.3, 920/WGKA-AM and outlying stations such as WTSH-FM, WDUN-AM, WNGC-FM. Q100 in the 6+ would have been in 7th place overall, the Fan, a tie for 17th, Rock 100.5 22nd, J93.3 a tie for 23rd. Journey a 27th and 99X 31st.

I don't know if I've seen this before, but 4 out of the top 5 radio stations with the exception of WSB AM have an Urban AC, Rhythmic, or Urban format. I guess one can forget any radio format ranking highly in this metro area if it's not Urban, the country format included. I'm still not sure why country is doing that badly being out of the top 10 stations.

One thing going for the urban stations is that I think they are all programmed pretty well and they have all been able to find their own unique niche. It's probably just about the strongest market in the country for the urban formats.

Country on the other hand in a different story. You've got 2 primary competitors that are far too similar and they are cannibalizing each other. They'd probably both do better if one was country hits and the other focused more on classic country.

Don't forget you also have a bunch of country rimshots like WNGC, WTSH, WEKS, and WCON. And there are probably others.

WKHX is off 2 full share points (A25-54) from March to March. In November they shifted to a 90s based format and have been sliding down since. The country split is quite obvious. 94-9 controls the low end and 101.5 is trying to retain the older end. Star is the station to watch. You have to give Lindy all the credit. Cindy and Ray and Bert tied for the month A25-54. I bet Lindy works with the show on a daily basis. I worked for him for a brief moment when he was in the CC building and he is a very smart programmer.

I just sent a scathing email to the idiots at Arbitron. I told them they were no longer a valid ratings company, because they refuse to publish "non-subscribing" stations in the 6+ report. I said that if they are not putting all of the stations in that report people would stop using them and move onto someone else. But, why would a company, like Cumulus Atlanta, want to pay for something like that. IMO, their PPMs are not all that accurate.

But, they WILL NOT listen to me. Darn!

On the urban format that is very true. WVEE is one of the best programmed urban-formatted stations in the US. It is only surpassed by KMEL in San Francisco in that category.

Shocking to see Radio One's MAJIC 107.5 and HOT 107.9 beating KISS 104.1 in the 25-54 demo. Where is PRAISE 102.5?
