A New York City "GOOD GUY" Has Gone On To A Better Place

Sad news from ALL ACCESS. Legendary WMCA "Good Guy", 77 WABC "All American", and WCBS-FM morning show host HARRY HARRISON passed away today after a long battle with a number of health issues. He was 89.

Harry was the only personality to make it big at all THREE iconic NYC radio stations. He was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame this past November ... well deserved!! What took so long?

RIP Harry! Thanks for the amazing radio!!! Go be with your wife, Patty (died in 2003) ... and two of your children who also passed away, BJ and Michael. Son, Patrick, and daughter, Patty, will stick around here and mind the store here! Stay strong.

He was just inducted in the Radio Hall of Fame a few months ago, and he looked pretty weak at that time. He was in a wheelchair.

Great that he was able to live long enough to receive that honor.

I'm a west coast guy, but even I know of his talent. He had this fatherly voice that commanded the airwaves, (yes, with a NY accent), but it was gold. You knew you were listening to a New Yorker, but a friendly voice combined with an appreciation of the format. A great morning man for the ages.

I only heard him in Miami on the "Army In Sounds" syndicated program which he hosted, and later when he did mornings on WABC.

I first heard him on WABC also. Living in Illinois I could only hear him in the fall and winter months. In later years I had the chance to hear many of his shows WCBS-FM.
