A Petition For All To Sign (Help Get DeGarmo and Key's Music Released On CD)

If you like DeGarmo and Key, as I do, please sign this petition. This one calls for Forefront Records to release all their songs on CD.

Currently I have 4 of their many recordings, on CD and yes they're still in mint condition.

They include: Destined to Win: The Solid Rock Collection, Heat It Up, Greatest Hits V.1 and To Extremes.

Had The Pledge on Tape but wore it out, due to playing it so much.

The link to this petition is: http://www.PetitionOnline.com/DKcds/petition.html

Love this band and their musical presentation. They still rock it just right.Liked the way they presented the Word of God, without any compromising. I don't mind playing their classic hits. The sound may be a bit dated but the message is still current and fresh.

R.D.P. <><

P.S. For those wondering, I'm number 67. Glad I signed it. Hope you'll do it too.

I signed it. D&K are one of my favorites. I have most of their albums that were released on CD already. Is Eddie DeGarmo still an executive with Forefront? Their bass player Tommy Cathey is from my hometown of Dyersburg, TN and a friend of my cousin.

There are a lot of classic Christian rock and CCM artists that I'd like to see their albums reissued on CD. Unfortunately with most of them it will probably never happen, except for compilation albums from the biggest names, which in my opinion D&K would qualify. The biggest problem is that on a lot of classic CCM albums the record companies own them and if they don't think they'll sell enough copies the they'd rather sit on them and do nothing. Larry Norman managed to reissue a lot of his classic CDs on his own label. But a lot of great classic CCM is now being held hostage by the conglomerates who now own most of the major Christian labels.

I found an interview with Phil Keaggy online a few months back where he talked how that all of his albums from Word and Sparrow are out of print because the masters are owned by the conglomerates, who won't allow them to be sold or reissued in any form. Perhaps D&K may have a better chance if Eddie DeGarmo is still with Forefront, but even with that, I figure anything that comes out will be more likely to be compilation albums.

Over the last couple of years I've found several blogs that have downloads of out of print CCM albums, a lot of which will probably never see the light of day again in any other form. And yes, some of them have early D&K albums available:

There are other blogs that have newer albums that may still be in print, but I try to avoid those.

Not sure that forefront is even a label any longer...I am pretty sure they were absorbed into EMIChristian at some point and I am pretty sure that Eddie is working for them in some capacity.

On the Full Circle podcast tribute to Dana Key after his death they mentioned that Eddie is now the President of EMI's Christian music division. So he is definitely in a decision making position. But I still think that the best anyone can hope for is more compilation albums.
