WFVY (100.1 FM "Soft Rock 100.1") is a commercial FM radio station licensed to serve Lebanon, Pennsylvania. The station is owned by Forever Media with an Adult Contemporary format. WFVY also broadcasts local high school sporting events, and Hershey Bears hockey games.[1]

WFVY shares studios with sister station WLBR (1270 AM). Both stations were owned by the Lebanon Broadcasting Company prior to the sale to Forever Media.

On the one hand the calls changed 2 months ago and no major changes. On the other hand Forever loves branding all their country stations "Froggy", so ......

wfvy fm

you are correct. if they simulcasted wgty fm gettysburg...the footprint would go north and east toward reading where wgty fm is fringe at best. i figured the new calls were in line with the other forever froggy stations. for example the froggy in altoona pa is wfgy fm. sounds like a froggy change to me. or another forever signature brand of happy.

Question is would it worthwhile for WGTY to extend its signal east of Harrisburg? GTY has always been the big dog in York, would there be any gain in being a third (forth, almost fifth really) country station in Harrisburg? Bob and Nash probably have the bulk of the country audience sewn up, WIOO for older fans, with GTY and Red rounding out the bottom. I may be missing other rim shot country signals too.

Playing armchair PD if 100.1 does go country it will be it's own thing targeting Lebanon county, even as a "Froggy". Maybe Forever nabs sister WLBR a FM translator which goes to "Happy" adult contemporary. Loosely mirrors what they did in Gettysburg/Hanover.

It's true that the region is overloaded with Country stations.

And is WFVY really a good call letter combination for "Froggy"? The F and Y work. But that V is out of place.

great reply

would be sad to see the full service am wlbr go kablooey. radio is a business and it will be interesting to see what unfolds. i feel for the staff there...if there are changes. i listened b4 i moved south and on both am/fm just band scanning... they seemed very professional people that are committed to their community

If the call is only whispered at the top of the hour, no one will care.

I forgot Bigfoot 100.5 to the north, and I-105 to the east, also put rim-shot country signals into Harrisburg. The city has more country stations then many southern markets!

Maybe the callsign just simply reflects Forever Lebanon Valley? WQIC happened when the station tried Q-100 top 40 in the mid-90's that didn't last. Does the station still have the "Soft Rock" slogan? Many AC stations dropped that like a decade ago.
