A Solution To The Demise Of Metro Traffic For Metro-Rochester Media

When I worked for Monroe County one of the things I help inaugurate was the ability on the county's web site for people to view traffic congestion and accidents.

The staff at 911 had expressed concern at the time about constantly having to answer telephone calls from Metro Traffic early mornings and afternoons for updated traffic. So I devised a system on the Monroe County web page where the 911 staff would be able to list the current traffic conditions for the Rochester metro area for everyone to read.

With the demise of Metro Traffic next month all any radio or TV station have to do is go to the Monroe County web site www.monroecounty.gov and they will find at the right hand side of the site a listing for traffic. There you will get the latest traffic information directly from the staff at 911.

Props for that particular service. We've been using it for some time now in conjunction with the D.O.T. cameras across 490,590, and 104. The Incident website doesn't always clear issues once the job is closed, but it has still been a very good thing. Although I do miss busting chops with Bill Martin from time to time..

Worked for? Have you left county employment? If so, hope it was a positive move!

All the best...

Yes I left County government in January 2006. I'm in the process of trying to get back into radio news. I miss the business (crazy me)

Let me reiterate from my earlier post. (Not to confuse anyone) I did leave county government in January but I am still employed in government but at the local level.
