A telescoped hour of WLYT HD2 in Charlotte--"The Shuffle Channel"

As an example of an HD2 offering that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE, and an example of how "it IS 'the programming, Stupid", here's an hour from WLYT in Charlotte's HD2 stream "The Shuffle Channel" that I recorded this morning. This is meant as an illustration of their programming, not sound quality...as I've (for bandwidth and space reasons) had to re-encode this into a lossy format (wma). Still it's transparent enough to give a pretty good idea of what they sound like. Signal path Accurian headphone out to Archos Gmini402 line in, recorded to uncompressed .wav file, then transferred to the 'puter in my studio, and edited and compressed using Adobe Audition 2.0.

Listen for yourself---REAL CREATIVITY making the purchase of HD Radio a no-brainer (this doesn't resemble ANYTHING on analog fm in Charlotte!)

If this is indicative of the HD(x) programming, it's really good (perish the thought... ha ha) for WLYT.

No really... this was absolutely great sounding and I enjoyed the snippets of short music between the voiceovers... and it was very clear... come on Mike what additional filtering did you do? Just kidding! :D

Good job, you've convinced me it sounds great on FM it probably always did... AM HD, that's another wet dog...

Damn Radiopilot, I'm waitin' for the punch line.

The recording was actually more than 2 hours, and I thought about posting it all to prove there were no dropouts, or switches between analog and digital. But then I would have included whole songs, and the RIAA would have locked me away!

Yeah, AM HD is the big question mark. I am also yet to be convinced!

PEACE!
