Nathan Obral said:I'm all for a co-host for Adam, but the co-host shouldn't upstage or be a detriment to him. If referring to a former Cleveland athlete, the pickings are very slim.
One difference between Adam's hiring here and the situation I mentioned in DC:
Adam was hired first, and they haven't even mentioned a coming co-host officially.
Unlike Chad Dukes, who is a young former "hot talk" host (on the same frequency in DC), Adam is a well-regarded professional sports talk host.
His 4-day-a-week schedule and frequent fill-ins for WFAN's big weekday names has raised his profile, and quite a few WFAN listeners are apparently sad to see him go. (And not just in his Twitter feed, either. A quick Google search revealed several NYC sports bloggers calling him "WFAN's most underutilized asset". I haven't found anything yet saying "good riddance".)
His departure is so important to WFAN that he guested on the station's weekday midday show last week to say goodbye.
So, they aren't repurposing an existing employee to do the radio stuff for an athlete here, like they did in DC. Whoever he's paired with, Adam will clearly be driving that PMD bus that's going to run over R&R at some point.
Maybe they bring in a sportswriter with Adam. Let's go through that list again...
