Thanks Aunti-Terrestrial. Here's more about tonight's show, now that I've got it all together...
Tonight's show is mostly a thematic one.
I'll start things off with a brand new song from ROTFLMAO which is actually Rickie Lee Jones and members of Squirrel Nut Zippers. The song is "Have You Had Enough" and with the election only four weeks away, it is a very timely song. As a matter of fact, the song is absolutely free and you can download it at myspace.com/haveyouhadenough/
From that point on, the remainder of the show will be a tribute to the legendary nite club and NYC institution, CBGB. The last concert at CBGB is tonight's appearance by Patti Smith. The 32 year old nite club has hosted performances by an impressive list of legendary artists, many of whom started their careers on the CBGB stage. Tonight on High Fidelity, I'll cover as much of the CBGB legacy as I can squeeze into four hours, going more or less in chronilogical order.
Make your plans now to listen. Tell your friends, tell you siblings. Record any TV shows you were planning to watch. It will be worth it. It's sad that NYC is losing CBGB, but it's a great excuse for me to dedicate an entire show to the artists that have played there.
Here's just a few of the artists you will hear tonight:
Blondie
Ramones
Television
Talking Heads
Patti Smith
Johnny Thunders
Richard Hell & The Voidoids
The Heartbreakers
Mink DeVille
Dead Boys
The Clash
The Damned
The Runaways
Iggy Pop
Sonic Youth
A special 3-song Lullaby Set featuring 3 of NYC and CBGB's most iconic artists
