I was wondering what everyone thought of the new 98.9. I noticed a few months ago that they dropped most of the hot AC titles from the playlist, and added the backsells and the news clips. Now as of a few weeks ago the news clips appear to be gone and the hot AC titles are back on the playlist, and they are saying the new click 98.9 again. Any other thoughts?

Well that's encouraging. If they do the "here is our identity....no wait ... THIS is our identity .... no wait ... we're going back to the OLD identity" then they could just as well simulcast 95.7.
I listen on and off and have noticed the same thing. At times 98.9 seems like a HOT/AC, then it becomes almost alternative or AAA. I would bet it can't lean too HOT/AC for fear of running into sister station KRWM. Hard to tell what 98.9 is?

Modern AC stuff with no jocks after six months. I'm not really into it. If they can't have jocks just call it a "Jack-FM Modern AC Version".
I still miss Smooth Jazz, and with no HD radio to get 100.7 HD-2 I'm screwed! But I do listen to smooth jazz online via WSJW 92.7 in Starview (Harrisburg), PA, a good station.

HD radios are relatively cheap and can easily be put into the jacks in your stereo. It's worth it to receive smooth jazz.

I would agree Hot AC and AAA fused together is not something I see working either.
It will be interesting to see the final concept and its success or failure as they tweak it. I give Sandusky credit for trying to launch and refine a new concept plus trying to steal the more modern leaning listeners from KMMT. It's nice to see an aggressive move with modern instead of regurgitating the well worn safe formats.
I looked at their online playlist, some odd things like Pink into The Black Keys, then shortly after that, some acoustic Nirvana.
A helping of hipster, smattering of hot AC with alternative gold though: odd concept.
I'll be interested to see how they turn out. My hunch is hipster with 90s/00s gold that fits the sound. That'll zero them in on one particular audience instead of trying to throw too wide of a net. The hot AC will be phased out.
On a side note, I wonder what their internal expectations are.
