After Months Of Anticipation, It Debuts Tonight... Will You Watch?

And neither would I. If Bush reveals that Cheney was actually running the show and he was nothing more than a "puppet" who actually had better, more-pleasant ideas, then that would be a bombshell. But otherwise -- no.

Besides, I rather see some men squabbling over an old campaign ribbon on "Pawn Stars" instead of Bush blather.

I hear enough around here (DFW) between Mr/Mrs Dubya choosing a cul-de-sac in north Dallas for their little retirement enclave (which got a gate added by the city to keep out the unwashed), and SMU being the upcoming home for the glorified file-cabinet/display-case that will house the things that many will fall all over themselves to go see (notice I didn't include myself in that number)....I'll be asleep when the hot air blows anyway as I still work nights and I'm working toward trying to replace my most recent TV, which was burgled a while back, so I can't watch it if I wanted to.

The Today Show hires Bush's daughter. She clearly is not qualified for an on-air position in network television, to the point that the producers, writers and editors assigned to her can't keep her from looking amateurish. And then Bush gives an exclusive interview (prime-time and Today Show) to Matt. Coincidence?

In all fairness to Jenna Bush, I got ripped in college, too. And there is nothing wrong that a few years in smaller markets wouldn't fix. She might not turn out to be network material but she could have a career (not that she needs the money). But how many generations has it been in the Bush family since any of them actually got offered a job, an admission to college or anything else they actually had earned on their own merits?

I'm actually a little surprised NBC and Lauer scored the first interview with Bush. I think it would have made more sense to have him on one of Larry King's final broadcasts. Not to derail this thread, but is there a date set for Larry and any word on big names he will interview? Maybe he'll get the highly-coveted second interview with Bush.

I'm recording both the Bush interview and Conan. Regardless of what you think of Bush, I think insight into his decision making will be interesting. I think Lauer is a lightweight of an interviewer though. NBC would have been well-advised to haul Tom Brokaw out of his corner to do this interview.

As for Conan.. I'm hoping it's his old show on a new network. I hope they haven't tried to reinvent the wheel. (and from his promos it does not sound like that's the case) Good luck to him!

I am, just based on how anti-Bush their cable news network is alone.

Why do so many of you always assume that networks (as corporate entities) are liberal or conservative? I'd bet my right testicle that NBC (pick either GE or Comcast) is run primarily by conservative Republicans...most large corporations are.

A strategic corporate programming decision was made to make MSNBC the anti-Fox, and turn it into a home of primarily liberal pundits. That was so they can get higher ratings and make more MONEY.

Check out CNBC some time. Their commentators are generally conservative Republicans, and bash Obama only a little less than Fox. Larry Kudlow, for example, would feel perfectly at home on Fox News.

I'm sure Matt Lauer will be perfectly friendly to Bush. He's not exactly a cut-throat interviewer.

I watched the hour longer W interview last night. He hasn't changed a bit since leaving office.
He still thinks his decisions (most of them at least) were the right ones, and the critics can say what they want about him.

I don't plan on buying his book. Eight years of "W" was enough for me.

The special finished fourth in it's timeslot. Guess nobody was that interested.

NBC is usually smarter than that. Why would they knowingly air a low rated program?
Perhaps they really were clueless?
I bet if they changed it up to make it a Dateline NBC special they would have had better ratings. (?)

Only if they made Bush a subject for their "To Catch a Predator" series.

Everyone has a dud now and then.

Especially if a "dud" presents a special about a "dud" who refuses to believe that he was one.

Bush was signing book after book after book. NBC must have assumed that crowd would also watch him on television, I guess.

All I know is that was the worst episode of Chuck I've seen all year, and that's saying something. ;)

Speaking of low rated programs, did the interview at least draw a better rating than the average rating of the old primetime "Jay Leno Show"? ::)
