The "All News 106.7" RUMOR MILL: Soft Launch for WYAY

Sorry to clutter the board with historic news, but do you think the rumored soft launch will happen (perfect conditions for one, Memorial Day Weekend) or will they stick to their supposed "Tuesday 5am" plan. They are advertising this on other Cumulus stations.

Re: The "All News 106.7" RUMOR MILL: Soft Launch for WYAY

Well, anytime before Tuesday IS closer to mid-May. ;D

Actually, I think they'll stick to Tuesday morn. They've had plenty of time to "work out the kinks" off air. I think the pace of the programming will be slightly slower than WSB - and will sound more mature and not as stressful which will be a welcome change for me. But, we'll see...

Well, I'll get up at 4:55am to hear the switch. I think they will have a clock tick all night. that is the usual sign of a flip. If I hear that announcement audio again, I might scream so loud the neighbors will hear me. I dont like hearing the second audio clip where that whiney guy talks about the teriffic sight. My thing is, if they dont like airing AGH so much that they have to interrupt it every 15 min. go ahead and put the news on. I wouldn't mind.

Keep in mind that guy got fired because he lost his objectivity. ::)

The reporter who lost it during the Hindenburg disaster.

Oh, Herbet Morrrison. That is who it is. Hindenburgh Disaster. "Oh, the humanity."

Re: The "All News 106.7" RUMOR MILL: Soft Launch for WYAY

Not sure if it's stunting or a crash, but for the last 2 days, the only thing on WYAY HD-2 is the same Mariah Carey song on repeat play.

Wonder what they will do with the HD2? AGH maybe? Hopefully it's not more news/talk crap. What a waste of a good signal.

No, he wasn't fire. In fact, he got considerable praise from WLS and NBC for his quick and accurate response to the disaster. The urban legend of his firing comes from his departure from WLS to Mutual and WOR about a year later.

And isn't it interesting that many of the clips they use in that promo are from CNN Radio? Wonder if the folks obtained permission to bring their own personal airchecks with them for such use?

David Hull is news anchor in the morning, not Andy Rose (sorry for the confusion). Stunt starts at 5am Tuesday. Anybody getting up to hear it? I am.

Re: The "All News 106.7" RUMOR MILL: Soft Launch for WYAY

...and all the clips (except the moon landing) are all disasters or tragedies. Makes me automatically think, "BadNews 103.7"

No, really. I hope they keep their presentations as far away from yellow as possible.

I see there are a lot of ex-CNN people here. I think the experience factor will definitely show. I am from Mississippi but I will be watching as you show the rest of the South how News Radio ought to be done

Re: The "All News 106.7" RUMOR MILL: Soft Launch for WYAY

I keep seeing "AGH" on these postings. What does it stand for?

I am surprised at the number of staff they have for the station. I wonder if all of the staff will be dedicated full time to All News 106.7 or if some of them will be working some to feed other Cumulus markets.

I agree. I think that there are going to be a lot of WGST/CNN people there, as well. Many of them (whom I know) have great radio voices, and DiGlo and CNN should have never fired them. I actually think this will get good ratings.

Roddy says that they would be working for both stations. So, they could report local stories for us, live.... and then report national stories from the "ABC News Command Center in Atlanta" for other stations, like KGO.

Or, they could VT an hour on another station, and then do the 5 hour shift here on WYAY. It will be profitable.
