Air America Holidays: Malloy 4 Rhodes, Werbe 4 Malloy

Mon 12/19/05-Wed 12/21/05:

Mike Malloy for Randi Rhodes,

...and Peter Werbe for Mike Malloy.

Please post any and all subsitutions, conservative and liberal. Always interesting to hear new hosts in other dayparts with different callers.

I think Peter Werbe did a great job substituting for Malloy a few weeks ago and should be a regular AAR substitute. Werbe took calls from conservatives as well, and respected them. This is ALWAYS a plus for a liberal host.

When will Al Franken return from the Middle East? Rachel Maddow has been substituting.

Peter B Collins substituted for Thom Hartmann a week ago when Thom Hartmann was in Germany. Perhaps he will sub again if Thom takes some vacation days?

Post whenever you have sub host info.

Thanks.

I think AAR may have learned that "best of" shows ad nauseum isn't good radio. I look at this post with a big smile because Peter Werbe is going to be a nice change in the mix for fun, Malloy is nice to hear in the daytime for once, I do enjoy Peter B Collins, and I can still hear others here and there.

Has anyone really enjoyed Rachel Maddow on Franken....I did because I thought it was engaging to take calls. I gave up a long while on Al not taking calls. I like when the host engages the audience sometimes at least. I do enjoy Al's interviews and guests but callers is a plus...Maddow does a great job on all the topics she covers.....so it was refreshing.

A good lesson learned, AAR.

How about a 1 hour Rhodes?

> Mike Malloy for Randi Rhodes,
Sounds like a good change. Malloy is more sedate in the daytime, as those who remember him from ieAmerica will remember. Maybe that schedule will moderate him somewhat.

> ...and Peter Werbe for Mike Malloy.
That is also a good change. Werbe is calm, relaxing and has a good evening voice.

I'd like to see these changes become permanent, but who gets the boot? Definitely Randi Rhodes could get by with one hour. Most of her show she simply repeats stuff and a limited schedule would force her to be more organized.
For Mike Malloy, he could also benefit from a shorter show.
______________

Absolutely. I was annoyed this week because my work schedule forced me to be mostly out of my office between noon and 3PM, so I wasn't able to listen live.

Instead, I had to make do with the podcasts in the evening or late-night.
______________

Another thinly-veiled, backhanded compliment.....lol.....nahh too many of us like Randi as is and Malloy needs an hour to get up to full anger...so no shortening.....sorry

Randi has FOUR HOURS, and perhaps this is too long for some markets. Perhaps program directors could consider three hours of Rhodes, followed by an hour of Mark Levine. <..>
______________

Christine Craft for Dr. Bill. John Rothmann, anyone?

Tonight, Sat. 12/17/05, progressive talk KSAC-AM/Sacramento afternoon host Christine Craft substitutes for Dr. William Harvey Wattenburg Ph.D. on KGO n/t 810. Not sure if Christine will sub tomorrow night as well, and not sure yet about next weekend.

And in regards to KGO, please post any times when John Rothmann will be subsituting at KGO-AM (e.g. for Gov. Pete Wilson or Gene Burns).

Thanks doc9 for the update on Jay Marvin for Springer.

I hadn't heard him until I heard him fill in for Springer a few months ago. Dude! He smokes! I'd like to hear him have his own 3 hours on A/A on a full-time basis.
