Aircheck: Crossover 105.1 MHz--Manila, The Philippines 6 March 2001

Crossover (DWBM-FM), is based out of Metro Manila. The station is best described as a Smooth Jazz station, but they don't have a sound similar to the SJ stations here. For one thing, the playlist is broader. They also play more vocals than instrumentals.

I started listening to Crossover in 2000, and made several recordings of the station over the next two years. They introduced me to artists I would have never heard otherwise. Crossover had a playlist large enough to include 1970's R&B (Marlena Shaw, Angela Bofill), West Coast singer-songwriter (Toto, Kenny Loggins, Dan Fogelberg), and contemporary jazz artists (Yutaka, Kevyn Lettau, George Benson, Al Jarreau, Silje Nergaard). In recent years the station has tightened up their playlist, but they still throw out surprises.

Here is an aircheck of the station recorded off the web in 2001. The original stream was 32 kbps stereo, but this is encoded at 192/44.1--here is the link:

Can you tell me the first two full length songs played? Thanks.

Donald, I'm not sure about the first song, but the second is "All She Wants (Is Love)" by Angela Bofill, from the CD "Love In Slow Motion" (1996 Shanachie).

Thank you so much, I just downloaded it from Amazon - great song!

I just wanted to say thank you to spiritof67 for all the great soundchecks he/she has posted. We have been without internet for the past month, so between the wav, spiritof67 soundchecks and some of my own soundchecks, I manage to get by. Thanks again for posting these. 8)
