There is no format flip yet, nonstop RXP music until monday or earlier. Don't know why are all the DJ's are gone already.
 
i noticed that the tune in radio app for my droid that wrxp,and q101 in Chicago have both disappeared,although the hd2 in Chicago is still there but the hd2 in new york is gone as well!!

Yes here also. My TuneIn radio app only gives WRXP, Q101 is gone. Maybe you contact TuneIn Radio via radiotime.com. They fix that in a day mostly. Give them the good direct streaming URL's and they fix it.
 
I have an HD radio. As of 3:35 PM EDT the RDS on 101.9 HD1 and HD2 still says WRXP. Smooth Jazz is still on HD2. I really hope that Merlin keeps that format on HD2

To the best of my knowledge, the smooth jazz format of the former WQCD "CD101.9" was never streamed. The website www.cd1019.com lasted for awhile after the format flip to rock in February 2008; eventually that went the way of "off-line for maintenance", never to be seen again.

The answer is a business one, not a radio one.

Simply put, the new owners have taken over operation of the station, and probably needed to do that to make changes to studio's and other equipment, as well as for legal and financial reasons.

They don't want the cost of putting those DJ's on their payroll, filling out all the forms etc.. It is not worth it since they would be let go in days or weeks anyway.

It's much cheaper and makes more sense to just let a computer play music, until the news/talk team is ready to go.
