Aircheck of the Format Flip - WQXR 96.3 Becomes WCAA "La Kalle 96.3"

Hopefully, you or someone will have the aircheck of WCAA to WQXR on 105.9

La Calle ended 105.9 at least 2 hours before. They ran a loop until about 7:59:30.

Jeff in Sa-ra-so-ta!

Could the dentist turn off his drill? LOL I'm looking for a place to hold the last hour as a wav or MP3. I have a really clean off air copy recorded in Manhattan on a roof antenna

Technically, La Kalle ended at 7:54PM. They were airing commercials during their loop, which I don't know why they would do that during a loop, and the last commercial mentioned something about 105.9 La Kalle. I don't know if they were sponsoring someone or made an appearance at a nightclub or something. The reason I asked for the aircheck was because I didn't hear the loop go into WQXR on 105.9.

As I heard it the loop would end, a spot would play, and the loop would start again.
But DJ and normal programming ended at least before 6pm.

That's a WTH to me. Listening to the 1988 swap with WQHT and WYNY, both stations continued their programming to the very last second. This swap, QXR was live and wrapped it up, but WCAA just disappeared and went to a loop. You would think WCAA would do something better since the La Kalle brand is done.

Wow. I actually loved the fact that they beatmixed 2 BEP songs seamlessly into a Latin track. If this is what the new station will officially sound, I'd actually listen to it, because it'll be one-of-a-kind.

Thanks for sharing this!

Shhhh, just don't call it dance!

Later this weekend, I will post the entire show from Carnegie Hall with the relaunch of WQXR at 105.9 as simulcast on WNYC. It's going to be in several parts.

you dont own the rights to that broadcast so dont post it

Actually does anyone have the "opposite" flip on 105.9?

For some reason, it really doesn't surprise me at all that seemingly no one bothered to record the 105.9 flip...

I actually listen to la kalle before and I am noticing the variety of music they are playing now (house music, english, more regeton) but one thing for sure, they are not playing merengue de calle...I hope they stick to this format..Im loving it..more diverse..

This is not the format... it is a buildup to to the launch of a new station Thursday morning.

actually that was what I meant to say..lol..the point is that I hope they keep playing all these music I've been listening to

I'm sure that they will play some of that music, but like David said, just wait for Thursday morning. Probably Luis Jimenez will be the first one to welcome everyone.

For those of you haven't listened to this aircheck of the format flip, I found this aircheck courtesy of Allan Sniffen. Here it is.

Disney, Have you never heard of copywrite infringement? An air check showing a few minutes of what a station is doing ,or as in this case a few minutes on either side of a flip is one thing. But posting an entire program , and calling it an air check is defiantly illegal .

The entire concert is available at http://www.wqxr.org/articles/about-wqxr/. It starts with concert, not with the introduction to the new WQXR. An aircheck is still needed for the end of WCAA's 96.3 announcements with the beginning of WQXR at 105.9 simulcast over WNYC-FM. There was an early 1940's aircheck of WQXR played toward the end of 96.3. A longer version was played in the beginning of 105.9.
