If you grew up in the New York area in the 1960s and 1970s, you’re probably
familiar with John Zacherley ( http://www.zacherley.com/ ). He was famous for
being the host of Chiller Theater and later as a New York DJ in 1967 on WNEW-FM
and WPLJ-FM in 1970. He was the very funny host of those great old scary movies
in a time when television was fun and not filled with crap like it is today. John Zacherely was born in 1918 and, not only is he still alive, but he is still attending Chiller Theater conventions and doing other appearances.
He returned to New York radio on October 31, 1999 to do a Halloween special
on WCBS- FM. He did at least one more Halloween special and maybe another,
I’m not sure. I’ll dig through my tapes to see if I can find the other ones.
