Airchecks: Jazz FM 102.2 MHz London, U.K. 1998 (multiple airchecks)

London's Jazz FM was one of the earliest internet streams I listened to on a regular basis. The station presented jazz in a way that was quite different than how it is presented here (academic for the straight-ahead listener, and tranquilizing for the Smooth Jazz audience). The on-air personalities were upbeat and conversational (like Adult Contemporary), and the music was more diverse. The playlist featured more acid jazz cuts, traditional and smooth jazz tracks, and even some Brazilian pop thrown in.

In 1998, I rolled tape on the station. There was some buffering and other issues, but I wanted to get this on tape. I fixed most of the gaps and re-equalized the audio. If you're interested, here is a link to the folder that contains the mp3's I have:
