Airchecks: WAOX "Retro Saturday Night" shows 11, 18, and 25 February 2012

WAOX (105.3 MHz) is a satellite based Hot AC that covers the Illinois suburbs of the St. Louis area. The station uses the Cumulus (ABC) "Today's Best Hits" network.

On Saturday's they feature "Retro Saturday Night," a five hour live show that plays mostly 1980's hits. Along with the usual songs from the decade, they manage to throw in a few "oh-wow" songs as well.

For three weeks in February I recorded the show. When I rolled tape on the 11'th, the death of Whitney Houston was just being announced, and the host (Johnny Wolfe) did an impromptu tribute as the news was made available.
