Wow,,, that is amazing that he can see the WTTS WTTZ as well as Pax tv 63 and TBN 42 all on that farm.. Greensburg should be farther than 32 miles,, but I suppose Line of site air miles is much different from road miles...

I used to be able to DX WOKI Knoxville in Martinsville in the summer, but it had to be good DX conditions,, usually early morning,,, I heard it alot between 1988 and 1993,,, after that I think WIFE in Connersville bumped up the power... I used to get a station from Lexington KY on 98.1 too,,, this was very common,,, it is Country now,, but at the time I could DX it in Martinsville it was AOR as 98 Double Q,,,,, I beleive the station still exists on 100.1,,, Formerly CHR as X-100.. Also used to get Power 94.5 Lexington and K-93 AKA 92.9.... These stations are all still in existance but have changed their names,,, 92.9 is now THE BEAR,,, 98.1 is THE BULL, and Power 94.5 is now Mix 94.5.... I havent heard Lexingtons 100.1 here since 1993???

Hey Bob,,, have you ever been able to pick up Quiksie 98.3 in Elizabethtown,,, its not really that far,, but I often get interference from it during the summer when trying to listen to Plainfields Disney Radio for the Youngins..... Other catches I can catch alot in the summer,, on 107.5 I can get THE RIVER from Nashville TN and sometimes WZKL I think its called,,

I aimed both antennas south just now on 98.3 and when I null Disney, something is there, but it's not strong enough to ID. Its raining & foggy...chances are the band conditions are very poor. Until 102.9 gets occupied again, try for LaVergne,TN 102.9

There is a 97.1 in Owensboro and Somerset, KY. Might be possible to put another one on around Sellersburg, IN. Probably class A only, and it wouldn't city-grade the entire metro. Not even close.

Has to be at least 111 miles south of Hank, which would put it south of Louisville...probably near the WAMZ site, which pushes it 40 miles south of Brooks Road. By that point, it's probably too close to Somerset.

I'm curious... how did you determine the 111 mile figure?

The FCC publishes this in its rule book, 47 CFR 73.207.

WLHK is a class B, and according to the table, a class A station on the same channel as a B must be at least 111 miles from the transmitter site of the B station.

Yes, I see how you determined the mileage. Thanks for telling me. I'm not in the radio business, but I'm always willing to learn things so I can then pass that knowledge along to others when the need arises.

There are only about 2 undiscovered Class A FM channels in the whole state. I know where they are, in the middle
of nowhere.

Anyone who built them would lose their shirt and pants. But, if someone dares to try, I will wish them good luck!

There's talk about putting a tax on cows because of their gaseous emmissions. Maybe we need a bailout for cows who listen to the radio... Maybe we need a federal grant to research whether cows who listen to radio give more milk... There's gotta be a way to build these stations and make them profitable... ???

Isn't life ironic? I was working bar down at the Crothersville VFW last night when Squeaky Pete (his boots always squeak) came in. I asked him "what'll it be?" He asked me "yeah, what's the minimum distance between a class A and a class B Fm radio station?" Just blurted it out! No warning or nothing. Wish I'd read this sooner.

I work in a college library. I've worked in public libraries too. I've never know what the next question will be. I've dealt with people who have wanted info on WILLS, when they said WHEELS! Even today I had a question about how bee pollen affects allergies. Its just a matter of time.

If one of the two you know is channel 241 in the Pulaski County area WNUY has plans to put it to use.

I can often always get 102.9 ROCK in Nashville and 107.5 THE RIVER... Nashville are both there,, usually South East will get me 107.5 WZKL Winstin Salem NC... or if pointed north I get WGCI Chicago.... On 101.1 I get the Hazard KY Blowtorch pointed south,,, or I get Saint Louis pointed west,, and sometimes,, not tonight I can get Q 101.1 Chicago.. But your right,, the Bands are dead tonight.. Good for local reception,, bad for DX.

When I lived in Indy in '99, I could get a few out-of-market station, but it was nothing like what I could get when I lived in Dallas three years earlier or even in Kansas City or Omaha. Of course, I lived at 86th and Township Line Rd, which was really close to one of the tower farms. From a local standpoint, I couldn't even get WHHH on my home stereo, and what was then WPZZ 95.9 was impossible to get, too.

I found WDZQ 95.1, WILL-FM 90.9, WWKI 100.5, WKOA 105.3, WKKG 101.5, WLEZ 102.7, WZZQ 107.5 and WCBK 102.3 to be my only reliable out-of-market FM catches, and I suppose WCBK is debatable as to whether or not it's out-of-market. However, I got all of those stations almost every time, though they were more listenable at some times than others. I was also frequently a day sleeper, waking up at 1 or 2, in the afternoon, which meant I had a little more favorable listening conditions than the average person.
