Alabama Radio-Want no part of it!

After reading many post on here i've come to the conclusion alabama is one of the worst states to work in radio. The cut throating on here is unbelivable and for what? 25K a year!

You people should be ashamed of yourselves!

So you judge all of the radio professionals in an entire state based on the grumblings of a vocal minority? Classy. We sure will miss you.

That's nothing. Now, if he said that Alabama radio sucks, then followed it up with "...and Nick Saban is a biaaaaacchhhh!", now THAT would be cause for a fight.

You do realize that most of the posters here don't and never did work in radio, right?

That's probably true, speaking for one of those who "don't and never did work in radio". Granted, there are some folks on here who are rude and mean-spirited, but it's really unfair to classify everyone who works in Alabama radio as such. You can go to any board or blog, radio or otherwise, online and you'll always find some of the same types of people posting- as my brother refers to them, "rude, crude, and socially unacceptable". It's not that people who work in Alabama radio are rude, it's just the way the world is headed in general (if you don't believe me, just read in the Bible in the book of 2 Timothy about how people will behave towards the end of time). It's an eye-opener of what our world is becoming. The name-calling and meanness is even worse with folks online due to the anonymity of the internet. People feel less restricted to say and do things they wouldn't otherwise do face-to-face.

Careful ye of the high and mighty. You could be being suckered by one trying to manipulate the posters and also cause difficulties internally within a certain company, which could be his own. But surely someone would not play politics within their own company.....nay, this shall never happen. Trees don't make noise when they fall in the woods.

It is just possible that bossjock1947, hometown Long Beach, was born in '47 and that was his hometown. It could be possible that he owns interest in properties there and in Alabama. Might be, might not be.

How are those Trojans looking this year Boss?

I am so ashamed......... :-\

I make more than $25,000.......

Does that make me evil?

/no, wait, I already am......

NO! That makes you SMART!

Excuse me

I have done radio in another state and believe me it can be the same petty bs as what goes on in the Alabama radio Market.

Yes there are petty people on here that want to talk all this and all that but don't judge every Alabama Broadcaster by just a few.

The majority of people I have worked with in FL ,Dothan, Birmingham and Huntsville have been nothing but professionals

As a whole we are professionals so if you don't like it I20 will take you right out ;D

We don't play DJ or play sales or play promotions this is what we do to take care of our familys.

I don't appreciate someone knocking myself and my colleagues.

Ok I will get off my soap box now ;D

Having worked in the south, midwest and northeast, I find Alabama right on target for the quality of people, rate of pay and work ethic in the stations.

Not to mention the quality of life throughout the state is second to none!

Alabama is exactly like any other market/state. You will find your share of all types. The worst
of them generally find their way on the road and aren't here long. I can't think of anyone
in Dothan radio that I don't have at least some respect for and there are some I really admire.

I will admit this forum isn't the best place to judge the quality and character of our industry.

Best wishes
