Albert O retiring from his day-to-day duties at WUMB as of Friday, August 1st.

Albert O (Albert Oram) was at WBCN from 1980 to 2003, making his tenure 23 years. He was an important figure in the station's progressive rock format, along with other announcers and managers. During his time there, WBCN was a major force in both the radio and music industries in Boston. Happy retirement.

Looks like Albert O is back on the daily schedule. In fact, the weekday schedule has been updated with new extended times for the morning & midday shows.

Brendan Hogan is now on from 6-11am - Randi Millman is on from 11am - 4pm - Albert O is back from 4-6pm - Evenings are the same from 6-10pm with Perry Persoff.

Mike Gioscia who initially replaced Albert is off the weekday schedule.

if youre old and been working for awhile, 330-4am 4am wake ups for breakfast shower, prep and be on air in boston at 6am... thats tough. im not old or whatever, but when i was getting up at 430... thats tough. 2 hours in the late afternoon is much easier

Albert O always worked the afternoon shift at WUMB from 2-6.

What’s different is he announced his retirement from full time hosting last year. Mike Gioscia moved to the 2-6pm shift following the retirement.

Now the morning host & midday hosts had their shifts extended to 5 hours and Albert is back to afternoons for a two hour shift.

What happened to Mike Gioscia?

OH... i mis read things and thought hed been doing mornings

So in addition to Mike Gioscia, it seems Perry Persoff is gone as well. His LinkedIn page states he’s looking for work.

Jess Phaneuf is now the evening host.
