Alec Baldwin Said to Be in Talks to Join NBC’s Late-Night Lineup

I subscribe to Baldwin's "Here's The Thing" Podcast. I enjoy it. It's not a traditional interview a la Terry Gross, more of a dinner conversation with some who is really interested in his guest. But it works. It's certainly more enlightening that most of the "journalistic" interviews with news readers trying to play Perry Mason and at the same time show they are smarter than the guest.

I think this could work and work well.

This would make the line-up:

Jimmy Fallon
Howard Stern
Alec Baldwin

If not must-see-TV, at least must-Tivo-TV.

Baldwin has star temperament. This is OK for once in awhile, but his ego won't let him take a back seat to the "stars" he'd interview.

Obviously, you haven't heard his podcast.

I haven't been aware of any eruptions from Alec Baldwin since his totally inappropriate freak out at his daughter some years ago, recorded by his former wife, Kim Basinger. On the whole, he seems like a reasonably self-deprecating guy that is able to laugh at himself.

He has laughed at himself. As there has been many scenes in '30 Rock' where his character, Jack Donaghy, has referenced scenarios directly related to Alecs real life. Also his Capital One commercials, he made fun and reference to his playing 'Words With Friends' on a plane, where he was escorted off the flight.

Or could Carson Daly move up to 12:30 A.M. ET/PT with Alec Baldwin at 1:30 A,M. ET/PT??

Looks like NBC's letting Lorne Michaels take all of late night. Every scenario I've seen so far is Carson leaves (he's still got "The Voice" in primetime), most likely Seth Myers in 12:30.

He's a litle booky...like Bob Costas without the rubber smile.

So what happens to Carson Daily? Pasture?

Carson Daily has apparently been re-upped. Sounds like an Alec Baldwin show could be the Tom Snyder'ing of NBC late night without a cigarette.

I suppose it's possible.

Hell, it's TV. Anything's possible.

If they keep Seth happy and find a place for Alec, they're building one heckuva bench.
