Alex Jones in a lawsuit related to the Sandy Hook Rants

It's why we say the political spectrum isn't a straight line with left on one side and the right on the other. It's a circle, and at some point, the far right actually becomes the left, both aiming to destroy the government. That's where we are now. We have someone who claims to be a conservative who wants to shut down the FBI. That's what Eldridge Cleaver wanted to do. That's what January 6th was all about, and Jones was there leading the charge. Alex Jones is the modern day Jerry Rubin and Abbie Hoffman. Except now they're running the government.
David Koch's hyper-Libertarian dream with authoritarianism and enforced Christian fundamentalism. Strange bedfellows

You think that's what Americans want, the government interfering in the free flow of news and ideas, and coming in and CENSORING and JAILING those that speak out?

This is America. This isn't 1930s Europe.
This is not a case of censorship. This is not the government forcing Alex Jones off the air because of his political beliefs. This is the result of Jones losing a civil suit brought by the Sandy Hook families. Jones owes a billion dollars to the Sandy Hook families because a jury determined that he defamed them. Info Wars is being sold to raise money Jones owes for defaming the families. The libel laws apply to everyone regardless of their politics, as George Stephanopoulos well knows. If Jones had some other money to compensate the families, he could keep Info Wars. If some other right-winger comes up with enough money to submit the winning bid for Info Wars, he could -- if he wished -- turn the outlook right back over to Jones.

Was responding to the post where the poster stated those cheering for Alex Jones' end might not be so happy when the government comes after other "journalists."

Talk hosts aren't "journalists." There's no "fairness" in their comments, which is to be expected as it's all opinion, which is fine with me.

I don't want the government to interfere in broadcast or print news, telling writers or anchors what they can and cannot report.

He had the right to say it but repeatedly lying about and slandering grieving parents for profit should have consequense too.

IMHO He is lucky to be alive. I am not promoting violence, but I have a few friends that would be in prison now who would not have used the justice system if Jones made that claim about their children's death.

Could this be a pyrrhic victory? Enshrining $1.5 billion dollar judgments for defamation by radio hosts into common law?

I anticipated SCOTUS accepting this and decimating the absurd dollar amount, and then proceeding to allow Jones' liability to stand.

Thank you, U.S. Supreme Court Justices, for getting this one right. I guess that his name wasn't Donald Trump so you couldn't give him even a shadow dockett ruling. (For those unsure of my position, the first sentence is the correct one.)
