tragic and heartbreaking news from All Elite Wrestling as the promotion for the first time ever announced that a active wrestler has died while under employment with them in the promotion's nearly 2 year history.
Johnathan Huber who wrestled in the promotion this year as Mr. Brodie Lee (his former ring name in the independent wrestling scene) passed away at the age of 41 Saturday. he also wrestled for WWE under the ring name of Luke Harper, where he was apart of a "hillbilly cult" themed stable "The Wyatt Family" and he was in a tag team with Wyatt Family stable mate Erik Rowan where they were known at one point as the "Bludgeon Brothers" he held the WWE NXT Tag Team Championship and WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship with Erik Rowan and had another reign as SmackDown Tag Champ with Wyatt Family leader Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton that was defended under "Freebird rule" (a rule where any 2 members of a group can defend the belt and said group is credited with the reign as a whole instead of the two members of the group designated at the tag champs, the name comes from The Fabulous Freebirds, who did such tactics that the unofficial rule is named after) and was WWE Intercontinental Champion in 2015 while in WWE. he also held the AEW TNT title earlier this year when he neat Cody Rhodes for the belt on the August 13th edition of Dynamite and lost it in a brutal and bloody Dog Collar match rematch against the son of "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes. the Dog Collar Match ended up being his final match.
his wife Amanda announced that he passed Saturday from a non-Covid19 related lung illness with his family at his side at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. he was survied by his wife and 2 sons Brodie and Nolan.

AEW had a planned special 2 part themed episode of Dynamite scheduled for this Wednesday Dec. 30 and Jan. 6 called "New Year's Smash, no word yet on if AEW will postpone week 1 of" New Year's Smash" to Jan. 6 and week 2 to Jan. 13 and do a memorial show in it's place for Dec. 30th with random matches with storylines placed on hold similar to what WWE did in 1999 after Owen Hart's death and 2005 for the Raw/SmackDown TV tapings for Nov. 14 & 18 episodes of the shows they taped the evening of the day Eddie Guerrero died on Nov. 13, 2005.
