last night, AEW aired their weekly show Dynamite on Friday night in a later than normal timeslot due to TNT's NBA Playoffs coverage preempting them from their normal Wednesdays at 8 PM ET time slot, and it was also the last episode before AEW's next PPV "Double or Nothing, and right before a segment which was devoted to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of AEW Women's World Champion Hikaru Shida's title reign beginning at last year's Double or Nothing PPV, a moment on a hot mic was caught on live internet stream on the streaming service Fite, as the Spanish commentators consisting of Alex Abrahantes, Wille Urbina, Dasha Kuret (formerly Dahsa Gonzales in WWE) & AEW/NWA women's wrestler Thunder Rosa were discussing on who should translate what the Women's World Champion was saying, when Urbina starting doing a stereotypical incoherent mocking voice making fun of all Asians, Hikaru Shida is a Japanese woman who now resides in the US to work for AEW, which the other Spanish language commentators told him to stop it, she speaks English, and the incident ruined what was meant to be a feel good moment for Shida as she was presented with a brand new version of the Women's World Title and cut her first in ring English language promo for the promotion (up to this point, before that, all here promos were done either backstage or pre-taped with her speaking both her native Japanese or English languages). this incident left a bad taste in everyone's mouth and outage occurred shorty after the incident occurred. AEW has since fired Urbina and there's rumors that everyone else on the Spanish commentary may be fined for not stopping him for doing it, no word yet on whether or not AEW Managment made them apologize to Shida or Shida knew about it.
