All News 106.7 is Here…Finally [last song, audio, first impressions]

A few quick things:

1) I haven't noticed any cross-promotion among the other Cumulus stations--no "Rock 100.5 Traffic and Weather from the All News 106.7 Newsroom" or anything like that. That would also affect Q100.

2) No SweetJack spots or PSAs (looking at you, Journey) on 106.7--the sales weasels must be happy.

3) No promos on Journey welcoming AGH listeners.

There is the first breaking news on 106.7, and they failed. The abc News feed went to the NWS feed, which is the wrong button. Put a microphone up to channel 2.

Actually, ABC News failed. KOMO Newsradio couldn't connect either.

ABC News Special Report with Cheri Preston was handled pretty well. Almost perfect timing.

I think John Lisk took a little while to get used to ad-libbing again. Probably didn't have to for a while.

In one of the other posts it was mentioned that the all jnews station I believe in Washington, D.C. didn;t have reporters in the field for the first several weeks and relied on TV stations like they are doing with Fox 5. Give it time it will happen.

Another ABC News Special Report. I think they are handling it pretty well, but why did they not air George Stephonopolus (I think that is how it is spelled ???) and Chris Cuomo at 3:58 from the TV. I think they should have.

You know, CNN didn't overnight have news "bureaus" all over the world. When they signed on, they relied exclusively on subscribing (or contracting) stations to feed them stories. (A lot of indy channels news teams started this way.)

It's also good for WYAY financially. They can throw a few dollars at some Fox 5 reporters to do stories for them (or add a 106.7 tag line to a story they do for WAGA, but they don't have to employ them and provide a full paycheck. Sweet deal for all.

Yes, give it time. ;)

OK, here's my suggestion: Please do a bit more tweeting. I know that they're focusing on the on-air product right now and can't do much in the way of content-related tweets; however, they can certainly do more promotional tweets.

Exactly....great opportunity to take advantage of digital media, advertising.

Flight 106.7. Clear. :)

Looks like both are gone.

Yes, I heard this afternoon with the new intro to All News 106.7 Airborne Traffic.

They kept taking about FIB. I am 50 years old and one of the few native Atlantans in my age bracket. I had never heard FIB and did not know where FIB was. After a few minutes I finally figured it out: Fulton Industrial Blvd. I called the traffic line (404-818-3066) and spoke to the nice lady that was doing the on-air work. She was very upbeat and said she was trying to try something other than saying Fulton Industrial ten times in a report (there were big problems out there today).

After talking to here for about three minutes, which was all the time she could spare, I got the feeling that they are working really hard on tweaking the on air product.

As someone just said, I do think someone there is reading our thread. What I am proud of is our group has been offering constructive comments rather than bashing. And yes... we did have fun with the traffic.

Clear. ;D

This is why I don't want WSB to do news. Leave the news to WYAY, and keep Hannity on. Or this announcment might just be about Adam Goldfein. Who Knows ???

So here is the schedule:

5-10am: Michelle Wright and Andy Rose with Greg Talmage, and Joanne Feldman, with Sandra Golden
10am-3pm: John Lisk with Greg Talmage (10-noon)/Kristen Charles (noon-3), with Sandra Golden (10-noon)/Carlos Madino (noon-3)
3pm-7pm Greg Black and Cheryl Castro (3-6pm) with Kristen Charles and Ken Cook
7pm-midnight Mark Woolsey with Kristen Charles (7-8)/Fred McFarlin (8-mid) and Ken Cook
midnight-5am Maria Boynton with Susan Carr (mid-4)/Greg Talmage (4-5) and Ken Cook (mid-4)/Joanne Feldman (4-5am)

Plus, we are hearing several new spots: including a FOX5 weather spot by Jim Cutler.

I enjoy hearing every person on this station, except you know who (double C.....) But, as I have said earlier- Fred McFarlin's traffic reports sound awful. Maybe they can make him sports anchor from 7-4 am? Just a though.

I agree, they all sounds great, like I said it reminds me of WBBM....

I just heard the "Right to Vote" PSA twice in a row. #KillMeNow!

Now, voiceovers before each and every segment. (news, weather.....etc.)

I have noticed that McFarlin and Carr's traffic duties are only part-time, so are they involved with other non-studio parts of the station, like Cheryl Castro?

It is a matter of taste, but I prefer news sounders to voice overs for every segment. Too many ovice overs make it sound busy.

I think too many "sponsors" make it busy. I went out to lunch this afternoon with an old friend in Seattle who has been listening to the station online. He says that they have "ABC News for national news, 680 the fan for sports, Atlanta Business Chronicle for money, Fox 5 for weather. It sounds like they have no one employed but the anchors."
