All News 106.7 is Here…Finally [last song, audio, first impressions]

An hour passes and no major glitches to write home about.

They sound more “live” than WSB, which sounds too tight and “polished” to be live.

This reminds me of the opening night for CNN in 1980 when they celebrated after the 3-hr. prime time news block and the major networks’ executives’ eyebrows turned – especially at CBS.

Anybody monitoring WSB?

nothing different going on at WSB. Atlanta's morning news as usual. Just mentioned the shooting on Old Nat'l Hwy.

At the top of the hour they added "Atlanta's #1 station for news, traffic & weather"

Well, WYAY has the "biggest and most respurcful news team in Atlanta Radio". This is true.

OK. I'll give them a week to quit saying "AllNews106point7" every 9 seconds. I know you gotta promote, but the main reason I'm listening is to get away from the duhbeyouessbeeee, duhbeyouessbeeee, duhbeyouessbeeee, and now duhbeyouessbeeee, etc. :-\

Flight 106.7 is their traffic chopper.

Flight 106.7, clear.

I agree... that is cheezy. They do not need to make stuff up... they have traffic every 10 minutes which makes it more credible than WSB. It should not sound gimmicky.

Betcha they go to more light stuff/entertainment news/magazine format after morning drive.

It'll be interesting to hear what Boortz says about this. You know he HAS to say something. :D
News weasels?

Overall, I like the product. I am not a fan of the lead-in (sounder) for sports. It is not smooth, but I will get used to it. The top of the hour and bottom of the hour news sounder could be a bit more distinct.

I like that they are covering more than three or four stories like some headline sources. Also, there is some banter witch lets us know they are live and are doing more than just reading.

CNN Breaking News Alert just posted "At least eight people killed in quake in northern Italy, authorities say. Death toll is expected to rise."

Let's see how long to air on All News 106.7.

Mark Arum is following @allnews1067 on twitter. That's funny.

6:30 ABC News

The Air Canada plane parts dropping from the sky story was covered by ABC and then again by the local team. This is a much bigger story than a part hitting a car window.

Local team mentions the earthquake story at 6:44 AM. So, what I would consider breaking news took 20 minutes to air after the alert from CNN.

As It would with WSB, and this is their first day.
