Local team mentions the earthquake story at 6:44 AM. So, what I would consider breaking news took 20 minutes to air after the alert from CNN.

As It would with WSB, and this is their first day.

True. It took WNEW about three weeks before they were good at getting breaking news to air in a timely manner.

Please note that I am observing, not criticizing. Besides... this is the middle of the night for me. I have not had any coffee yet. :)

Since there are no longer any music stations worth listening to I decided to give All News 106.7 a listen. I feel like the local traffic and weather is better and more informative than on WSB but when it comes to local news, I feel like WSB has that covered better. During the morning and afternoon commutes I would want more in depth local news than 106.7 is providing and highlights of international news. Wonder if this is something that will improve on 106.7 as time goes on?

Scott Kimbler is going to cover the shoot out after ABC. I think the reason why they are doing so much entertainment news, is because it doesn't require much and is easy to report.

They are much smoother with fewer mishaps than any of the recent four new all news start ups around the country. Hats off to them for starting with a more polished product.

Well, we actually heard them do a dry run- which sounded good (even yesterday).

Just because CNN sends a breaking news text on an earthquake does not mean they need to break right in with that news as there are almost no details to reports at that time. I am sure if the earthquake was in a major U.S,. city it would be mentioned sooner but I see no reason to go on the air with info that has no furher details on another continent. Gets some facts and details before reporting it.

I am pretty sure almost every station that ever debuted improved upon their first two hours on the air.

The stream didn't start until 5:23 this morning and I missed the switch. What were the last few songs they played? 1067 sounds quite polished for it's first day. I thought they were going to loop a documentary this morning. False information? Any dramatic sign on at 5?

With Atlanta in the all news category, all of the Top 10 markets has an all newser However, KRLD is all news 5AM to 8PM weekdays only and WBZ is all news only from 5AM to 8pm,as well, but they do it seven days a week.

Well, apparently Roddy's source, who in turn told me, that they would do that. I think they were trying to shock us. I wouldn't put it below them. Very dramatic sign on. You can find a list of songs on the first and second pages of this thread, and my funny description of what was happening. I am going to try to send my audio to Lance Venta so he can post it on FormatChange.

I know the flagship News and Information station KGO took months to get their new all-news format to organize. Now KGO is ok.

WYAY was organized from today (or should I say day 1).

Absolutely. Compared to the other four all news launches we have heard in the last year, this is by far the smoothest. Very few glitches... and the few we have heard are things that we would notice, not the average listener. Congrats to the All News 106.7 news team for a very smooth launch.

Final songs on 106.7 before the switch: "Another One Bites the Dust," "Last Dance" and "A Day in the Life."

All ones the we predicted. But, all great songs nonetheless.

I will try this post again. I accidentally posted in the middle of the quote... as I said earlier, 5AM is the middle of the night for me. Here is the post again:

So what do we think about the morning show compared to WSB?

Who Wins? (WYAY or WSB)

Anchors- All News
Pace- All News
Traffic- All News - You can understand it
Weather- WSB (I love Feldman, but she is only live one time an hour during mornings. Now, when Ken Cook is on this afternoon, I think he'll be better.)
National News- All News, hands down

allnews 106.7 is just plain better at the morning show, and this is only their first day). It's "News when YOU want it....."

Again, this is only allnews' first day. WSB should be worried. TAKE THAT CUMULUS-DOUBTERS

Good luck to my former home. But, would someone please instruct the VO guy the proper way to say Atlanta?

Which is how?

A Facebook comment from Doug Cummings, author from Chicago, has this to say:

"Doug M Cummings
Chicago is listening. Crisp writing, excellent pacing, friendly anchors. Your debut sounds great."

Couldn't agree more. I honestly think, at times, that I am listening to KOMO in Seattle. It's that good.

106.7 sounds good. Just like WSB. WSB will have to step its game up. One thing they need to do; on TuneIn Radio, it still shows as an Athens station.

People might look at Atlanta radio and not notice the station is there.
