All News 106.7 is Here…Finally [last song, audio, first impressions]

Well we all know KLIF and KGO needs to take good note on how 'News and Information" brand is done. But the main difference here is that WYAY is on FM while the other 2 stations are done on AM. I think if KLIF and KGO were on FM then they could have had higher ratings but Cumulus FM stations in Dallas and SFO had good ratings there.

I hope this time Cumulus will succeed in the all-news business. I remember KGO-AM started out as a flop when they expanded news for most of the day except for Ronn Owens it started out bad but then improved after a few months. I know KGO kept talk for weekends.

Two Anchors, Again. YAY!!!!

Cheryl Castro has a nice voice, but Greg Black's is better.

First Legal ID was perfect. 3:00:20 is when it happened. They are gradually starting to get into a time rhythm.

TOTH was a little glitchy.

Connie Cummings seems to be following me around.

Joanne Feldman is still on- I WANT TO HEAR KEN COOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Could it be that we finally know what happened to CURTIS FROM PA? Is it wpb1999?
 
Some observations:

For their first day, they sound pretty darn good.

Are the Fox 5 weather folks recording their reports on iPhones or something? Sounds really muffled. Throw Audition on a laptop and plug in a mic for them. Or surely they have a VO studio at Fox 5 that they could utilize?

As mentioned by many on this board, the Flight 106.7 traffic gimmick is lame. No need for that. Drop the "Flight 106.7, clear" and just refer to Ty Hunter as another traffic reporter.

I've been pleasantly surprised with Kristen Charles' traffic reports. She sounds great. Don't take this the wrong way, but I don't think many females could pull off traffic reports on an All News station with the correct gravitas. She does it though.

I think Talmadge is fine, but I wish they had a slightly stronger traffic reporter as their "captain" and morning drive reporter. He would be a great second fiddle in the mornings.

With all that said, I'm really excited about this station. They've already exceeded my expectations.

What happened to Cheryl Castro- Greg Black was by himself at 6:00.

Good Delivery. There are very strong male voices on this station.
 
Is the "Flight 106.7" real. Is it the shared SkyFox from WAGA?

Fred McFarlin's traffic reports are incredibly annoying.
 
KCBS and WTOP have a similar feel to the stations. That is what happens when you are the only station in the market. KGO needed to offer a different feel/sound to be competitive. WNEW is the headline service for DC and WTOP is long form with a little more personality. I think we are getting a WTOP/KCBS station here in Atlanta.

I hope WYAY is No1 in their market once the June 2012 ratings books comes out. KGO is more of a features station in the SFO Market.
