Alot of jack and jack type stations seem to sound alike- agree disagree?

I like the jacks in la and new york and the one in los angeles plays the nails 99 lines about 44 women but i swear all these variety hits stations seem to play alot of the same songs.it at times it seems it is the light rock of today.in my hometown louisville,ky we one called louie fm which is way safer then any of the variety hits stations i have heard. It does pretty well but this is because louisville is one of the safest radio towns i have ever heard i rarely here a oh wow type song like i have in new york and la and west virginia stations.Oh well i guess this format will eventually run its course.I do however like on the jack stations the announcer dude very funny.Louie has live jocks and voice tracked.I think variety hits is better with no jocks.I guess how the station is depends on the city.

Opinions please
